Hi everyone! We hope you enjoyed that first look at Stormgate pre-alpha gameplay from the PC Gaming Show. It feels good to finally show you where we are in development . . . and this is only the beginning.

Our next step is to answer some of your questions, as we’re sure you have LOTS of them.

We’re going to conduct an AMA right here on r/Stormgate this coming Friday, June 16, 2023 at 10:00-11:00 AM PDT / 1:00-2:00 PM EDT / 7:00-8:00 PM CEST.

We’ll gather some of the Frost Giant crew to answer questions regarding our pre-alpha gameplay footage and the current state of the game. We’ll answer questions for an hour, though we’ll do our best to tackle a few extra after the AMA is done.

Since some of you won’t be able to participate live, we’ll post the official AMA thread on Thursday, 24 hours in advance, so that you can pre-submit questions.

We appreciate your support and are grateful to have you in our community.

-Your friends at Frost Giant Studios

P.S. In case you were wondering, no, we will not spoil any hypothetical third faction, and no, we don’t have a release date to share.

Hi! Thank you for the amazing reveal! What GPU do I need to run Stormgate on ultraaaa!?🤣🤣🤣

I have my settings maxed on my machine at home at 4K resolution and have a 3080Ti. That said, we don’t have hardware recommended specs to share yet as we need to do external testing first. The specs for UE5 are a good starting point.

Really hope that they will include a coop commander experience simmilar to sc2. Loved that i could play with friends that are worse in skill but still, everyone could have a great time

Yes! We are doing 3P co-op vs AI instead of 2P.

Thanks for doing the AMA! (Do we submit the questions here or do we have to wait until the thread is posted? I'll post here anyway..)

My question is about gameplay speed in relation to esports and the experience of the spectator. If you look at a lot of the top Esports out there, the gameplay is almost always typically fast. Examples are CS:GO, Dota 2, League of Legends. I think Starcraft 2 has the highest milestones of any RTS in terms of viewership, for many different reasons, but partly because the action is so fast-paced and it's way more exciting to watch pros that feel like they're dancing on knife's edge at lightning speed. I am worried that I will love playing Stormgate, but not really enjoy watching it if it's on the slower side.

So my question is: Do you feel like faster game speed is a critical component to a palatable spectator sport?

A follow up question: Can you comment on the relationship between game speed vs damage? I think a lot of users on this subreddit think speed and damage are the same thing, when they're really very different. How quickly your units get to a fight will definitely cause them to do more damage, but how much DPS they do and how quickly their abilities fire, is way different than responsiveness and movement speed. In my mind, I don't think I have a problem with Starcraft's speed, but with the damage. I think units like the widow mine, baneling, disruptor are good for spectating because you're on the edge of your seat waiting to see a game turning moment, but on the flip side, you can lose the game to lucky widow mine shots, disruptor shots you weren't looking at, etc and feel like the game is unfair, rather than your opponent made a good play.

I know it's early alpha and everything is subject to change, but I did feel the alpha footage game speed was a bit on the slower side. I hope you agree in the sentiment that a faster game speed will be better, but the damage and explosiveness should be toned down a bit (which so far, looks like it has).

The thread goes up tomorrow! Please post questions there.
