[2020] How to circumvent the Malak event bug

So in the Malak event there is a bug which stops the droids from spawning. CG being their typical self of not fixing it, I was wondering if anyone knows what triggers this bug? Trying to do this on my alt, but it's a massive RNG fest, I just had them stop spawning with 1 armor shred done, and all 4 dudes alive.
