"Many people went after Darth Malak right away and 882 players got Darth Malak on his first go around who have never spent a single cent in this game. It was, I imagine, significantly more challenging for them than those who had, but as we were told by many players at Star Wars Celebration, they read the tea leaves, anticipated what was coming, and made specific choices about how to invest their resources. That represents a balance in this game that we want to continue to facilitate."

I get you're frustrated with the community Carrie but acting like you haven't intentionally walled off more characters and gear while promising to make it easier is just sh*tty or tone deaf. No surprise here, we've come to expect both.

We were hoping that what replaced marquees was more accessible and you're proud that it's more difficult than ever. What was your goal here CG?

Please let erik handle all communications honestly. If anything just so we can get information that actually matters and not just random facts worded into a way to try to prove your point.

Hey DM, perhaps this could have been worded a little clearer, but I don’t think we’re expecting everyone to be satisfied because x% of completely F2P ($0.00) players got him. But I do think it’s an important thing to note that in the context of very little lead time and it being a very challenging event, a non-trivial number of players made difficult trade-offs over the course of months, choosing not to invest in certain other characters for the sake of chasing the thing they wanted, and it paid off for them.

We can talk about the merits of so many different things, whether characters should be more or less attainable, more or less obvious to divine the requirements, how long we should get to prepare, what’s the right pace to roll out new characters, etc, but many of the negative comments I read daily seem to suggest something along the lines of "I should be able to get every new thing and dominate every part of the game, all the time - and I shouldn’t have to spend a dime to do it."

Having made games where a significant portion of the content was strictly pay walled, I think it’s pretty cool (personally) that everything in this game can be unlocked for free over a long enough time horizon and that it’s possible to achieve the current meta for free (though you may need to save and prioritize to make it happen).
