In the high-res view, you can clearly see that these are digital art rather than other 'analog' forms. Very cool! I'm curious about your process. Do you draw these by hand first, scan them, and bring them into some kind of digital painting software to paint over? Do you use actual photos to either trace or model after? Or are these done 100% freehand on digital? I'm assuming you must use a tablet/stylus.

Really depends on how much time we have and what state the 3d assets are in. If we have a good scene and character made, it saves a lot of time to pose them in Unity and paint over. Otherwise I do everything from scratch. The Rey artwork, for example, was all done from scratch.
We draw on Wacom tablets and Photoshop for this kind of work. There's no paper in the art room. It's all digital.

Its a mixed bag. Star Wars is full of ghosts, after all. It's the most elaborate ghost story of all time.

Garret also gives us a view into the creative process that creates the art for the game, too. A lot more goes into it than one might think. It might not be coding or fixing bugs or game mechanics or setting rewards for challenges, but overall, it is nice to see a portion of the game from a different perspective.
Plus, the art isn't half shabby, either.
