This is the first set I decided to sink hours of my life into the game. I don't have a lot of time to play, so sometimes I only get to play 2 a day, some days 0, and sometimes I get to play 5. Since I don't have the experience to know what is strong, tools like TFTAcademy really helped in locking in what comps I learned how to play. I learned the basic lines of Scrap, Enforcers, Dom Silco, Sorcs, and I mixed in how to play Renata, Urgot and Zeri rerolls. I also checked tactics.tools to see what items are statistically good enough for me to slam if I can't get BIS.

I don't feel that it was a rough grind. It feels like I just played enough games to finally reach the rank. But what helped the most to get through bottlenecks is not being overly conscious of the climb. I tried to stay aware of how close I was to promotion, but never let myself feel too much of the pressure to win (or get top 4). If anything, rage-queueing is the recipe for disaster because the last loss/losses never really leaves your mind while you play.

I also hit slumps when I first got to Emerald. I let the nerves get to me in E2 and I dropped to E3 LP. It feels like I forgot to play the game after that. I took a break and when I decided to play again, I made sure to remind myself to focus one game at a time. To get out of the slump, I didn't even think about going first, fourth, or eighth. I made sure to just try to minimize my mistakes and play as well as I can. I only thought about either playing for first or fourth or fifth when I consistently played well again.

I don't have the best fundamentals. I frequently struggle with flexing too many comps and spreading myself thin. Instead, I compensated with a mindset that allowed me to play the game while not hating it. I remembered to have fun. After all, I don't get anything out of it outside of killing time lol. So goodluck to my fellow climbers! You can do it too.
