Haven’t watched the video but the discussion about this is getting very tiring already. I don’t know why people feel the need to call a game dead or not tbh.

No, Temtem is not dead. There are several thousands of people playing the game on a weekly basis (no one seems to understand this and everyone thinks that the steamcharts data is the actual number of players a game has). And this number is actually much higher than what we expected to have by now, we already knew the Early Access was going to take long (not as long, but the game grew a lot since then).

The goal of the game has never been to retain the maximum amount of players. We know that a huge part of the community wants to play the story and that’s all, that’s fine, we build the game with a lot of different communities in mind. There are other parts of the community that want more for the game and we’re trying to deliver that, but our goal for the Kickstarter was to fully complete the campaign and the roster of Tems, while focusing on the endgame and competitive aspects at the end and build those from 1.0 and forward.

We’ve always been pretty clear about what comprehends the MMO part in Temtem. You can check the FAQs in the Kickstarter campaign which were made a million years ago and we are still having that same philosophy. If you think Temtem needs to be an MMO like FFXIV then yes, it’s dead or better it wasn’t even born because our goal has never been that. The MMO aspects are more social than gameplay-wise although there are some things there (next patch is bringing the trade house and the dojo wars for example).

Also about the grindy aspects that have been talked about in this thread, we are aware and we’re trying to improve it. There are a lot of changes planned to aid with the situation but those will come with the final release (aka 1.0). There are multiple things tied together in that patch and rushing some things before that is always a bad idea (we’ve tried in the past and hasn’t worked in the best way).
