2023 Temtem Roadmap

Crema - 11th November 2022

Most updates are accompanied by a new PvP Season and balance patch that aims into shaking the meta (not necessarily making all Temtems viable at very high end skill brackets). The release dates are not set in stone.

Update 1.3 - Stepping up

January - [Bug fixing]

# 👥 Fixing all bugs regarding Kudo completion and claiming Kudo rewards on all platforms.

# 👥 Fixing chat bug.

# 👥 Switch performance patch to get rid of most crashes.

# 👥 A dye tube can be used 3 times before running empty.

Update 1.4 - Tamer’s Brawls

First trimester - [The mental shrine/Gym Leader Castle ripoff]

# Tamer’s Paradise is now hosting Tamer’s Brawls. They are short PvE leagues (4 battles) that can be either experienced as single player or co-op, opponents team level matches players highest level Temtem (minimum 50) and rewards boosted experience. Matches are 6 vs. 6 and the player team can be healed after each one. Players can stop and continue each league at any time and also change the team between matches. There is no cost involved in joining a Tamer’s Brawl. Every Brawl won increases the next league difficulty and rewards. We believe that with that we will be giving players a good activity to tackle after the campaign that is rewarding, that they can progress through, that would allow them to use their current team, incentivise Co-op play and is also an alternative method to leveling up Temtems.

# 👥 Mental Shrine, associated areas and quests.

# The third mythical lair.

# 5 new Temtem: 3rd mythical, 7th Tuwai evolution (mental), earth/mental 3 stage evolutionary line.

# 👥 We are ditching FOMO practices. Novas microtransactions are an important source of income to maintain the game online and keep developing content. We understand that some players may find it unfair to have cosmetic assets locked behind a second paywall after already purchased the game, but we believe we offer a great product for the base value, we believe in Temtem as a fulfilling experience for the cost. The cosmetics available in the store are meant to be something extra for those that want to support the future development of the game. That said, most of the cosmetic items that were ever available in the store will be available in a permanent store. We will be holding sales for discounted Nova prices and making some items available for feathers on a weekly rotating basis.

# 👥 Valentine's Day Event.

Update 1.5 - Feathering Out

Second trimester - [Economy revamp]

First let’s run through a sort of development manifesto that runs through the line of thought that guides the changes, going through our goals and the present restrictions to achieve them.

We face the hard task of creating a healthy economy, in which, despite the sinks implemented, players inevitably reach completeness on their own goals, there is no decay on their Temtem collection, it only increases.

Also Lumas by design are meant to be rare, not only that but they are the most valuable asset present in the game. There is no way we make their hunt less grindy while also maintaining their charm and value. If they become too common, not only do they become pointless, the investment to obtain them also becomes pointless and the whole economy collapses. That said, we will give a boost that favors those that casually engage the game, so they see Lumas more often.

Although Temtem offers a wide range of activities, different players engage with those activities in different ways and don’t feel rewarded by every sort of reward. That said, the chain of activities that reward Pansuns, on where to spend Pansuns and Feathers are rewarded, on what to spend Feathers and how to use such items might lock players on activities where the main game loop that should be fulfilling by itself are actually perceived as grindy just because it's not of that players grind. On that note, we're gonna revise that logic. From now on, there will be no costs to engage in most activities, so players can choose on what to engage. Some activities will favor certain rewards, but the player will be able to trade or sell those rewards.

From our new perspective the costs and Pansuns sinks will be revolving: gathering and training competitive Temtems, gathering and perfecting Luma Temtems, consumables revolving speeding up those processes and cosmetics. Competitive modes already have a steep learning curve, so we tend to make it also not so costly, to incentivise participation. This leaves the main sinks at gathering Lumas and cosmetics, and the real have costs at perfecting Lumas. The removal of costs for participating in the activities available will revolve around rebalancing prices of most of what is available.

We will monitor repercussions, we are worried that some activities can be optimized to extremes where they become exponentially better with well thought setups. Although we encourage inventive solutions to be better rewarded or more efficient, it’s important that time invested on all activities give similar results and that skill or knowledge is not over rewarded.

We hope with those changes we have not only a healthier economy, that encourage and promote the participation on the game activities that fill more rewarding for each player, and is more straightforward while having only one currency.

# Double chance to find a Luma from any source until you are awarded with your first Luma or Luma egg of the weak.

# Lower Pansun rewards from campaign and lower consumable cost used in the campaign (FreeTem! rewards will be rebalanced to accommodate lower Temcard costs), also campaign Pansun rewards will increase as players progress.

# Boutiques will have some (limited) options of current island flavor cosmetics whose costs match player wealth while playing the story.

# Removing Feathers (all Feathers will be converted into Pansuns), the cost of items available on Tamer’s Paradise will be rebalanced.

# Removing cost of all endgame activities: Digilairs, Mythical Lairs, TemSafari, DraftArena, GritArena, Evershifting Tower, Club Dojo matches. Rewards for those activities now have diminishing returns.

# Dojo Rematches rewards won’t diminish because of losses.

# Some items from the loot pool will be rewarded when capturing Temtem. Some items will be tied to some species, and the chance of a Temtem to hold an item will also vary depending on the item and Temtem rarity. The focus here is to reward players that are trying to capture Temtems through natural encounters, and add variety for those that pursue FreeTem! rewards in optimal aways.

# The distribution of single values will obey a pseudo random formula, making it more unlikely for a Temtem to have multiple low stats. The availability of higher stats Temtem from multiple sources (Saipark, radars, pheromones and mainly breeding) make it too punitive to try to acquire Temtems from random natural encounters. Keep in mind that the chance to grab Temtems with higher (45+ values), from natural encounters, is still the same.

# 👥 Evershifting Tower revamp. It’s now a 5 player party activity. Players can trade Temtems among themselves during a run. Measures were taken to assure RNG won’t screw up the run beyond player agency.

# 4 new Temtem.

# 👥 Easter Event.

Update 1.6 - Arbury University Research Trip

Third trimester - [Pokémon Snap mode]

# Although battling is the main game loop, and we still want to keep Temtem mainly centered in it, some variation is healthy for the game. Every half an hour a research ship will be leaving Arbury airport, guided by Arbury University researchers to one of the islands (varies daily). It’s a 5 man party activity that requires at least 3 players to be completed. It’s a daily quest, and the island visited rotates daily randomly. The objective is to photograph rare Temtem and Temtem unusual behavior in nature.

# Research trip perfect score rewards a new mount.

# A new quest to obtain a photograph book to collect cool photos taken in the research trip.

# 4 new Temtem.

# 👥 Halloween Event.

Update 1.7 - Mega Temtem Mayhem

Fourth trimester - [Tera Raid Battle ripoff]

# 👥 Another group activity, Mega Temtems are gonna spawn randomly causing total mayhem over an island, and players can group up to battle it in Pokémon Tera Raid Battle style. This means someone is still in possession of the technology developed by Clan Besoto and is putting it to use. Successful battles against Mega Temtems usually awards ETC of their signature moves, near to perfect eggs and even Telomere Hotfixes of all sorts.

# 4 new Temtem.

# Dark Lumas.

# 👥 Christmas Event.

2024 and the future.

Here are the features still under consideration and that might be present in the 2024 roadmap:

# 👥 Co-op PvP.

# 👥 “The Downbelow” endgame campaign.

# “The Belsoto strikes back” endgame campaign.
