[2022] account code not valid?

I can't seem to get my cross progression working and I was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue.

Background information: I logged onto my pc and found the cross progression setting, and set my pc as primary platform (I have only ever played pc) took a picture of my code and later that day bought the game on my ps5 and launched it, and tried to set it as secondary and entered the code and it's apparently not valid.

Am I missing something? Is the code only valid for a certain time?
