Why not add a book in the menu similar to the Bestiary. This book tracks all fish you've caught in the game. The fishing book could have entries for each fish with the following info:
Size (Could have various sizes with ratings based on size of 1 to 5 stars?) Ex: When you catch a tuna it'll record the largest one you've caught and give it a star rating and you can continue catching to improve your score. Biome Catchable in Number of times Caught Rarity of fish (Common,Uncommon,Rare,Epic,Legendary, Quest or some variation) A little fun description.
This could be another thing people can do to give more life to fishing and keep track of all fish in the game and if you wanna know where a fish is you can look at that instead of resorting to the wiki.
The fishing book could even say what potions and recipes fish can be used in.
There could also be a special section for quest fish as well separate from the normal book.
Also with more percentage competed the angler can give guarranteed rewards aa well instead of relying solely on RNG
For example:
Sextant at 25%
Angler earring at 30%
Weather Radio at 35%
Tackle Box at 40%
Etc.
I love fishing in terraria and i love being a completionist and this collective book could allow players to track and catch fish and even compare size ratings with friends without resorting to the wiki 24/7
