[2023] Purchased and installed on Steam, Ubisoft connect making me download the game again.

When the game first released I purchased the standard edition on Ubisoft connect. Installed and play no worries.
My friend gifted me the game plus expansion on Steam. I have downloaded and tried to play play through steam.
Steam runs the game, opens ubisoft connect to, which then proceeds to download the entire game again.
I can not seem to get the game to run and the ubisoft connect doesn't recognise that the game is installed, I cannot even tell it the path to take to start the game.
Any information would be appreciated.
