Sadly, it doesn't look like there's been an update from the team on this issue, but rest assured it has been reported and I'm getting your report forwarded to the team as well to help them look further into this. For the time being though, you may want to try the following workaround as it has helped some players to bypass this issue.

1. Call for backup
2. Make the backup person the leader
3. Ask that the new leader start the mission on story mode
4. Complete mission as normal
