I'm looking for some insight on a technical issue i've been having, which seems to have started just since last weekend.
I seem to get really bad stuttering (FPS drops). The longer I play the worse it becomes. After about 30 minutes to an hour the stuttering starts, where I will micro freeze. Then my frames jump back up to 100+ and everything catches up. Eventually...around a hour and half mark the stuttering is constant, to the point where my frames freeze completely and by the time they catch up i'm laying on the ground dead.
I don't seem to recall having this issue during the beta program, or on early access. **This problem is exclusive to this game, and I have tried every solution I could find, but no joy. Here are my PC specs:
Intel i7-7700k
32gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
running Windows 10 home 64-bit
(game also runs on a 1TB SSD)
And here is what i've tried so far:
I've tried turning DX12 on AND off (in-game option)
I've turned "Enabled Reduced Latency" on and off (in-game option)
Vsync on/off -(ingame)
I've lowered graphics and there is no difference between low graphics and Geforce experience's optimal settings which are max
I've turned Vsync on/off globally thru Nvidia control panel
I've tried refresh rates of 144 and 165
Tried ticking the box to disable fullscreen optimization on the division.exe
Tried running division 2 in windowed mode, windowed (fullscreen) mode, and fullscreen mode
I've turned the in-game option "frame rate limit" on/off
I made sure window page filing was set to automatic
I tried deleting the dx12 folder in documents>games>division 2
I disabled the Uplay overlay, the Geforce experience overlay, and the windows 10 xbox game overlay
I uninstalled the division 2 beta
I reinstalled division 2 (twice, once I tried putting it on my OS SSD)
and of course, i'm using the latest Nvidia drivers
I'm at a complete loss. And no it's not my internet. I have fiber optics and usually my down is 800-900mb/s and up is 700-800mb/s and i've had zero issues with any other game, including recent games like Anthem (which is ran in ultra settings with no issues. Just like all the other games i've played recently)
The ONLY thing that resolves my stuttering in Division 2 is a fresh PC reboot. And I must note that on a fresh PC reboot the game runs so so smooth and beautifully on max settings and i'm getting 120+fps (for about an hour, sometimes less)
If anyone has any advice, or any other steps to take that solved your stuttering issues i'd be glad to try it. I'm all ears. I love love LOVE this game, but after 30-1hr it becomes unplayable and it's discouraging to the point I want to put it down.
