OK, I know this might be an odd question, and I may be virtually alone with my thinking, but allow me to elaborate briefly.

I am a solo gamer, UK based and nearly 50. I have damaged hearing with medical advice to avoid loud sounds around me as best as possible and especially avoid direct contact with my ears.

I am not new to the Division franchise but fairly new to Division 2 where I am happily going through the campaign at my leisure. My query is that when it comes to needing a little assistance when the numbers are against me, is calling for backup going to annoy other agents/players when they realise I am not on mic?

Gaming for me has in the main always been a lone experience, by choice. I like to play at my pace, my way, and I enjoy the challenges solo gaming provides. I am not bothered that I miss out on things like raids as such activities take me out of my gaming comfort zone. I simply want to enjoy my gaming time. This said I do realise that sharing a battle or two at times, even with just one other person, would be beneficial. But if my inability to use a headset and mic is a negative then I would rather slog it out solo no matter how long a challenge takes.

Anyway, appreciate you all listening. Thanks for your time.

Loving all the responses here. Similar to what many above me have said, voice communication can be helpful, yes, but it is by no means mandatory or even necessarily an expectation for standard matchmaking. I know I have seen some clans who look specifically for those willing to use voice chat, but I would bet there are equally as many with no such qualifications.

(I personally have voice chat on but don't speak. That way I can get the info I might need but only responding through text chat.) Keep up the great responses everyone!
