When people report they are getting over 2 million DPS at the firing range are they ignoring the decimal point and just reading the full number as 7 digits?

I'd agree to a point. Shooting range targets don't move around too much, or shoot back, or get suppressed, or flail around on fire.

I recommend the range as a good litmus test for if your build can do what it needs to do, but the only true test is trial by combat.
