It crashed 2 times right after turning overlay on, so I turned overlay off and it's still crashing. I don't know what to do.
Is there anything I can do that will let me just play the game?! Because last time I had to quit and uninstalled for months because I couldn't figure out how to actually play without crashing. I just want to play this game!

You can also Turn the Overlay Back Off if you are not able to get the game crash-free without doing so.

Verifying the game files may help with the issue as well, and the method you used for it is completely fine as verifying will replace any file the game absolutely needs to run that you deleted.

Just to clarify, after you performed the manual VC Redistributable install, did the game not crash for an entire day after that? Has the frequency of crashes for you decreased?
