So im playing my 170th hour into this game, im doing these projects, and one of them happen to be playing a stronghold on hard difficulty, and i said ok let me try that and called for matchmaking. This has turned out to be my worst hour of playing into this game, and i strongly think this will stay forever.

First i had one guy joining in, and oh cool, hey man whats up? This is hard difficulty, yeah? He knows and we just keep rolling thru the mission. Now, the group is full at this point, and there's this part where you have to blow up the two fuel tanks next to the ship. And the raging mayhem began when the enemy starts unloading with this turret. Of course, the creepy cousins of Mike Myer join in the battle, and we just get slaughtered on site. I mean, it didn't even last a minute literally. Did i mention hard difficulty? Yes, so there's no respawning in this part, so we all just left bleeding for 30 sec + 5 sec loading for the next spawn.

Are you getting the feeling yet? So one guy in our group decided NOT to jump over the wall to begin the assault. I can't say he did it intentionally or just rummaging thru the ever-overwhelming backpack, but it was ridiculous at this point. Because when you go down in a no-respawning zone, you cannot do much else. I mean, you can't chat, you can't quit, you can't go thru the menu, it's like locking up your smartphone. And all three of us were just at the mercy of jerk to make any movement. I also have to mention the fuel tank part, i mean it takes TON of bullets to blow this thing up. Thank God the pistol ammos are unlimited, but hey, there's no ammo box around here!! And the enemies just keep popping up round after round, we are going out of bullets and grenades and armor, i just rage quit at this point.

Seriously, Ubisoft, like what kind of sick game did you make for us to play? Are you so paranoid about people exploiting some kind of spawning bugs that you just had to make everyone locked out of the game? Yes, i did mention that you can't even QUIT out of the mission, or the whole game altogether. NO NOTHING, but total paralysis.

And then there's this crazy thing about enemy unloading from the turret. This is a really annoying effect, because players get flinched and have their aim shaky, but enemies are NEVER flinching, and their aim stays 100% accuracy no matter what, even when players are sprinting to another cover. It's been about a month now, and all we do these days is shoot couple bullets and hide, shoot couple more bullets and run, hard-scope at an enemy at least 60 secs in faint hope of seeing his scared face out of the cover, waste a whole clip of magazine on a running enemy, etc. At this point, i was getting so mad and just keep respawning over and over to get some projects done, but really, is this what "Hard" supposed to feel like? When i really took a minute to think thru what's happening here, i'm just feeling dumbfounded the whole time like, maybe everybody at Ubisoft is just trying to make us NOT PLAY this game. Players are often playing solo, we are almost always outnumbered, reloading is so slow by the time it's finished some guy either starts shooting in front of my face or get melee to death. I just don't understand how these factors are considered "challenging" from the game developers. For me, it's like all they do is make players feel helpless and upset as levels go up. Like, they want players to take cover and PINNED DOWN til death looms our way. Even if we take shelter in cover, some "challenging" enemies shoot a grenade launcher at the cover position. That's really not fair, don't you think? Weapon switching is painfully slow, and when we manage to throw a grenade, the enemies know exactly where to run, and nobody gets hurt. It's like for every attempt to get myself unstuck in a situation, Ubisoft takes notes and make sure it is countered no matter how hard i try. Why? Why make it so difficult for us to just move on with the game story?

So sorry if my rambling about this game has gone a little too far, but i'm just lost in this kind of sick game. Putting this post in a suggestion sub-forum feels pointless fosho. Does anybody have similar experiences? Am i just a "weak player" whos struggling with shooter games in general? I really wanna hear from fellow players.

A nice mix of feedback and advice in this thread so far. I know the Roosevelt Island mission can be a real endurance test, especially towards the end. It's one where good or bad positioning and movement can determine the flow of the fight at any moment.

My best advice is - and definitely when playing with others - to make sure that your builds, playstyles, and tactics mesh well. A player who is built for CQC and pushing forward does not have good synergy with a a squad built for long range poking and picking off. All that leaves you with is a dead ally and enemies prepped for four of you. The mission is definitely hard, it is supposed to stand as a barrier for even harder content in the subsequent world tier. But it is definitely doable.

Hope this helps.
