Sorry to see you're running into a crashing issue, particularly when you're trying to get some group gameplay started.
When the game crashes, does it simply kick you back to your PlayStation 5 dashboard, or do you get a crash error? If you do get a crash error, can you take a picture of it for me and send it in a reply on this thread?
I can also recommend our basic troubleshooting for your platform, as even a widespread issue like this could be caused by update files installing incorrectly.
