First off I want to say according to Uplay, I have 124 hours playing D2. Of those 124 hours, I have spent about 45-50 hours in the dark zone if I were to guess. Of those hours, I have played solo, 2 man, 3 man, and 4 man groups and all the rewards are the same as well as my feelings compared to the DZ in D1.

Second, the rewards and gear have 0 difference that I can tell from just playing story missions or control points. In D1 DZ, you would be hunting for the best of the best gear because it dropped good gear. D2 gear in the DZ as I said before, I see no difference.

Third. There really is no excitement in the DZ like there was in D1. In D1, you can walk into the DZ with your blood pumping, and adrenaline surging whenever you heard any kind of gunfire because that meant people were around and you had no clue what their intent would be if they saw you. It was fun and exciting. In D1 when you would call in a chopper, you actually had to post up and defend your position not just from NPC's but because 50% of the time, people would come and try to kill you and steal your loot. In D1, going after rouges and manhunts were exciting, or even being the rouge or the person they are man hunting. The DZ's feel empty and I hardly ever see anyone in there whether im playing solo or in groups. Very seldom do I ever here other players call in a chopper to extract gear and hardly see any landmarks being cleared except for the ones im doing. Just about everyday, ill go run into a dz solo, pick locks, hack the transmitters which all gives a rouge status and not once has anyone come after me or my team when running with a team which I usual do.

Fourth. Now there are 3 different dz's but they are all pretty small. In the first Division, It would take a good amount of time (which I dont rem off hand) running from the very top of the DZ to the very bottom. In D2, you can get across the map in 2 minutes or less with how small they are.

Now I have seen video's of streamers in the DZ constantly going rouge or killing rouges and running into lots of other people in the Dz's but that is not my experience at all. Its kinda boring and no excitement really.

Now, I wanna jump in here before this turns into an intense back and fort about long-time players being pushed out of the Dark Zone back in The Division and just not returning.

That adrenaline-fueled blood-pumping anxiety you described regarding the old DZ is hard to force and even harder to artificially replicate. It was natural. And depending on who you ask, it was wonderful.

If you're noticing a stark lack of players in The Dark Zone, what do you feel might entice them to come back, without diminishing the core experience that already exists in PvE?
