I'm honestly asking this question because I remember hearing that it was specifically said that PvP tweaks could have been implemented separately from PvE, and that they could be done simply by modifying a PvP multiplier. So what is the reasoning behind letting the shotgun builds run amok for so long?
A title update shouldn't need needed to tweak PvP modifiers, and I'm honestly beginning to think that Redstorm is lost down sh*t creek without a paddle. Whenever an exploit is found in PvE (loot cave, NPCs not acting properly), it's usually a red ticket issue and is addressed and patched within a week. The only reason they didn't "fix" the NPC archetypes so quickly (like that glorious week when the Black tusk rushers couldn't use their drones) was because they couldn't work out all the moving parts without breaking everything.
So why is it that when something becomes ridiculous in PvP such as the armor kit glitch which took so long to change, and now the shotgun one/two shots, they take forever to rectify these issues? I don't want to sound like a know it all, but as soon as I saw the patch notes for TU4, I immediately saw Premeditated shotguns becoming a problem. Low and behold, it's all you see.
Massive and Redstorm: You don't need an entire title update to fix something broken in the game. You seem to know that as far as PvE is concerned. A simple toning down of the shotgun modifier during the weekly maintenance may have been all you needed to implement to avoid the nonsense that is making many players leave this game. Free weekends and twenty dollar sales will not help you retain players in a broken game.
I hope the developers honestly realize that the state of affairs is not sustainable. Nobody will PvP or PvE for much longer if the game continues to evolve the way it has been.
