16gb ram (4095mb available due to win 7 nerf)

During the mission eliminate the black tusk assault squad, and shortly after arriving outside to start 'reach the roof', I pressed ctrl to climb the 1st obstacle whereby the character froze on top of it between one step and the next. The sound is fine, the graphics are still rendering floating leaves/debree but the is no responce from the keyboard when I press esc or any movement keys, but f12 worked.
