Loot RNG is terrible right now...and we are talking about gear sets moving to 4 pieces now?

New specialization released with it's process to get their BUGGED (I'm an SP guy so it doesn't matter)...and we are talking about gear sets moving to 4 pieces now?

How is bullet registration going? Nah...4 piece gear sets anyone?

So beyond all the obvious...what I don't understand is how the people that design this game (co tinually supposedly?) don't get THAT. GEAR. SETS. SUCK.

It doesn't matter if you make them 4 pieces. I miss out on FOUR talents...and NONE of the gear sets really provide any bugs that make you feel more powerful. The gear sets technically have more room for attrib maxes, but you never see them.

NO PERSON that knows how to work in the system that is Division 2 is going to run gear sets (save that one person running aces and 8s.). Why? RNEY ARENT POWERFUL and I lose SIX TALENTS.

YOU. DESIGN. THIS. GAME. Seriously what is going on?

You basically could have vanilla stamped Div 1 gear and gear systems (SKILLS) on to Div 2 and people probably would have been happier.

I GET it's "a different game," but it should keep some of the core fundamentals...and basically this game has nothing from Div 1 that we liked.

Like...just think that in Div 1 pulse WAS A SKILL, and you, and your team, received this buff WITHOUT having to use 2 slots EACH.

These are the decisions I am talking about. It just doesn't make much sense. I mean I get technically it's more powerful now across the two slots (skill + talent) and that makes sense...but it's the change that doesn't. Roll the skill back to straight crit chance and maybe 5% WD.

I don't know...its just a lead designer asking about rolling down gear sets that nobody uses to 4 pieces, NOT make them more powerful, or actually provide some tangible benefit vs the talent loss, baffles me.

Now you know when you release the next one MONTHS from now...maybe...and it actually (after years of design and 5 updates) might be powerful and good to use...EVERYONE WILL USE IT rather than having different playstyles that can complement each other.

You know...that great design you already had laid out for you with Div 1.

WORK ON LOOT RNG.

The relationship with Gear Sets and their placement in the power curve has always been complicated - and it can sort of depend on how you see the purpose/place of Gear Sets.

Looking at it like a side-by-side of The division, yea, they're definitely not as potent since they replace the various talents/attributes with the unlocked Set Bonuses (which arguably only pass the barrier for usage at 4 or 5 out of 6).

Keep in mind that Gear Sets quickly became the standard in The Division - almost no one in the endgame ran with high-end gear, they either did portions of different Gear Sets, one Gear Set, or something with Exotics (at least that of what I saw). Gear Sets in the Division 2, whether or not they are strong, useful, or unique, occupy a different role. They seem to accentuate and facilitate out-of-left-field playstyles rather than boosting already present ones.

For example, Striker (Div) made the solo-forward-pusher playstyle stronger, giving more damage and healing for continued pressure. That's already a way people play, Striker just made it stronger and better.
True Patriot (Div2) introduces a buff/debuff/CDR support role, which doesn't exist in any form from any combination of other gear items (to my knowledge). It is entirely dependent on use of True Patriot.

This is, obviously, both a pro and a con, since it makes each Gear set inherently off-meta and harder to balance. I'm curious to see what might possibly happen if 4P Gear Sets were introduced. Would they be more inline with The Division Gear Sets or strike a new path altogether?

This is my subjective understanding of the topic, you all may have an entirely different take on it. Hopefully it wasn't too rambling.

Edit: Would super appreciate it if someone could share the tweet that seems to be getting talked about.
