Dear nadeo team,

you did a great job with releasing the game and i hope you all are well and not that stressed regarding to the launch issues that occured.
Here i want to talk about aspects of the game that would be important to me as a content creator.

First, i want to point out that i really like the changes that were made in comparison to ManiaPlanet for what i'm looking for, e.g. the new MediaTracker UI, graphical improvement like the re-designed Stadium, the easy ability to change decals over the Clubs and overall many detail work that got into the blocks, the car and the stadium itself. I tip my hat for that, it's something positively i don't expected.

But that brings me already to the few points that i witnessed in regard to the topics that are important for me and, i surely can assume, on behalf for the content creator part of the community. and that is something i want to talk about.

  • Since ManiaPlanet 4, we got the noticable issues with lightmaps and shadow-calculation, which showed for example at some point, that the game's tracks are made out of blocks. That's around for a long time now and i thought that these things changed with the new game. But sadly, these issues are still present. Not only that, but also reflections, especially on the Stadium parts, are still cubemaps that don't change if the Stadium is altered. (e.g. big billboards and Stadium sides with the TMGL logo on it). I at least hoped that this won't affect on renders through MediaTracker, so it won't affect the gameplay experience negatively, but apparently these things sadly are also in there.

I wish for an option to at least render replays in the MediaTracker with real-time reflections on surfaces that are reflecting, the option doesn't need to be available for being played on. Also, the shadow bug should be fixed pretty please, as many players noticed that already. Not only for content creators, but also for anyone.

  • We have this beautiful trees now, that finally don't turn towards the camera, which is really great! But i have two issues, of which one relates to the trees itself and one to another topic. For some reason, the cherry blossom tree's, that lose leaves on the track in-game, don't lose them in MediaTracker renders and i don't see why this is supposed to happen. Also, noticing on the trees, Level of Detail is still present and noticable, which, like real-time reflections, i would like to have an option to disable it for renders.

  • - In the MediaTracker, the time counter can't be used for entering specific timestamps for jumping to an specific time, which worked previously in ManiaPlanet.

Should i see new stuff being off-set for me, i would post them in this thread here.


Also, i apologize if the post seems to be very negative, but after these issues are present and being reported almost a year ago, i got a bit sentimental on that topic. Because if i want to start contributing to Trackmania's exposure and making cool stuff as other members want to do, i want to make the best out of the best, because that's what Trackmania and Ubisoft Nadeo deserves.
