The Belarusian strategic offensive operation, named after the a general in war of 1812, Prince Pyotr Bagration, successfully ended on August 29th 1944. As part of it, the Wehrmacht suffered its greatest defeat in the entire military history of Germany. Its losses amounted to around 400,000 combat soldiers.

Today, we’ll be taking a look at a real classic with a fresh coat of paint, the Finnish captured KV-1 Model 1942! The m1942 was one of the last conventional KV-1 variants constructed, chiefly it features improved armor protection at the cost of around one ton of extra weight. This new premium tank will be arriving in the next major update!

Let’s take a look at the ZSU-23-4M2 (also known as the Shilka-M2), which is a special variant of the Shilka SPAA, used for accompanying tank columns during the Afghan War.

Today, we’ll be taking a look at the T1E1 (90 mm), a vehicle that derived from fitting the T1E1 with a more powerful 90 mm cannon. Although this upgrade didn’t ultimately change the outcome of the development program, this unique up-gunned variant of the T1E1 will soon arrive to the American ground forces tree as part of the next major War Thunder update!

Named after the 18th century Austrian general, the Prinz Eugen heavy cruiser was launched on August 22nd 1938. In May 1941, it took part in Operation Rheinübung and helped in the attack of the British battlecruiser HMS Hood. From mid-1943, Prinz Eugen provided artillery cover for German troops on the Eastern Front. After the war, it was handed over to the United States and was destroyed during nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll.

Today, we’re ready to introduce to you the long-awaited Research Bonuses for New Nations. In this article, we’ll be explaining how it works in full and we’ll also be having testing for this new feature, the dates and times can be seen below.

In summary: Each nation and vehicle tree per nation (Army, Helicopters, Aviation, Bluewater fleet, and Coastal fleet) will each have 3 battles with research bonuses if you have a “top” vehicle researched and purchased in one of the respective trees in another nation. Bonus numbers can be seen in the “Table of research bonus numbers for each tree type and rank” table below. The bonus is calculated from the base Research Point gained in a battle, and bonus battles reset daily at 00:00 GMT. On August 19th 1944, the French Resistance began the Battle of Paris against the Germans and Vichy forces under its command. On August 24th, the Allies arrived as well, causing Paris to be liberated within hours. Hitler ordered that if the city could not be held, it should be destroyed, but the commandant of Paris, Dietrich von Choltitz, refused to carry out the order.

Since 1943, the US Airborne Forces actively participated in combat operations during World War II — first during the invasion of Italy, and then in Normandy and the Ardennes. They played a vital role during D-Day, assisting with the Allies having a safer landing on the beaches.

On the 14th August 1974, the Panavia Tornado took to the skies for the first time. In 2024, this multinational, multirole aircraft marks 50 years since its first flight and still flies today with the Luftwaffe, Aeronautica Militare and Royal Saudi Air Force. The Royal Air Force, previously being one of the 3 original operators, retired their last Tornados in 2019.

Preserving fragments in the head part of the shell First off, we’d like to tell you about a change that we consider necessary and will be implemented into the game without any vote. This change relates to maintaining the integrity of an APHE shell’s head after armor penetration. When an APHE shell explodes, its warhead is not subject to significant fragmentation and can cause substantially greater damage than the scattering fragments of the case and base.
