Hey everyone,

We've got another community survey for you, but first a recap of some of the things you mentioned last month.

  • 11.4k+ of you took the survey in June.
  • June 2019 was the month where you said you were the most happiest with the game.
  • Communication has improved, now at its highest point since Feb 2019.
  • Transmissions have improved, now at their highest point since Jan 2019.
  • Naboo is the most popular map (as expected, it was new). Will be interesting to see if this retains top spot this month.
  • Both the TX-130 and Droideka scored very well. TX-130 coming out on top...just.
  • The 41st Scout Battalion is your favourite appearance from June.
  • Interestingly, both new Clone Trooper appearances rated higher than Genera Skywalker.
  • In terms of gameplay experiences, it went Reinforcements > Trooper > Hero.
  • Large Scale Maps, Heroes, QoL and Reinforcements were the top 4 content requ...

Incredible!

One of the most impressive things I've seen come from the community.

INCOMING TRANSMISSION

Explosions, blasters, smoke, steam, fire, rain, lightning. Odds are that you’ve encountered these, and many more, of the Visual Effects (VFX for short) during your time playing Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II. Today we take a look at how VFX fit into the game, as well as the process behind some of them.

Despite their ubiquitousness, it can be quite difficult to pin-point exactly what VFX are in a game. Senior VFX artist Anders Egleus reflects on this.

“Most people associate VFX with sprites, i.e. flat planes with transparent textures. But modern game engines like Frostbite have become so flexible and powerful that we can now use our VFX tools to create a lot of things that traditionally would have to be created by other parts of the game team, e.g. animation, lighting, technical art, even code. From birds and leaves on Naboo, to full scenes of background fighting with vehicles and hundreds of soldiers on Ge...

Could be fun, but is outside of the scope of what we'd do for a weekend event.

How would you feel about troopers only in a game mode or maybe HvV with lightsabers / blasters only?

As a rule of thumb, the Audio team who do recordings aren't busy working within code to fix bugs.

Game development is made up of many multi-disciplined teams, each with their own focus. There are cross overs at times, granted. Audio team would work on fixing Audio related issues.

If you could add one voice line to Star Wars Battlefront II, what would it be?

Across all eras please.

This. We'd of course really like to use the KENOBIIIIIIIIIIIIIII but feel like it's much more suitable to be an emote. Due to our patch timelines we didn't have the time to do the required animation that would come alongside it in time for July.

I'm with you, would love to be able to do it. Hopefully one day, but right not it's not possible to start naming people.

Can't. I tip toe across the line at times but this is one that I cannot break I'm afraid.

Ok, that's cool.

But what's stopping you from banning hackers who have been reported countless times, or unbanning people have been wrongfully banned.

Telling us 'Stuff is happening' Doesn't fill us with confidence, we're not 2 years old, we know that's just PR talk.

I can't comment on individual cases but I will say that the "wrongfully banned" aren't as innocent as they might make out.

The one thing I don't want to do is to detail what we are doing and when, as that just tips people off.

We've responded before. It's a very legal grey area that limits what I can and can't say.

There is stuff happening on this front, is all I can say.

Because Droidekas (thankfully) cannot fly, and as a result you won't have people using it to get to places where they shouldn't be as a regular trooper.
