I have an original gameboy modded with an IPS display and that's exactly the trick used on the particular display I purchased. The hardest part seems to be finding a display of this size with a decent resolution, but this is definitely the first of many projects like this for me. <3

If you ever wanna try a super retro rig, one of the nice tricks I like for a 4:3 screen is to flip a 16:9 panel portrait, center a 4:3 image on it [pretty doable with most operating systems], and mask the 16:9 part of the screen with the 'CRT' border. :D
