Hello everyone,

Like a team of infernal reindeer, the next major update for Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming in for a smooth yuletide landing — yes, new features will be live before the year is out, accompanied by a festive Panel From Hell that will give you a peek at what’s to come in 2023!

In the Community Update accompanying that Panel From Hell, we’ll go into detail about some of the most discussed topics in the community. The good news is that we’re on track for release in 2023 – and we’ll have more on that in December. Acts 2 and 3 of the story are being actively playtested to ensure they’re up to the same level of polish and you’ll soon discover that there’s much more in the works (or already complete) than what you’ll encounter in an Early Access playthrough. Our goal is for even the players who have repeated Act 1 over and over again for hundreds of hours to feel like there’s a whole new experience in store for them at launch.

We're sti... Read more

Hello everyone,

We’ve got another hotfix for you today, addressing a couple of troublesome crashes and issues. It’s not a party if your members stop following you into the unknown, so we’ve had a little chat with them about following your instructions more closely. Now, your followers should…follow you. Thank you for taking the time to report these issues to us so we can fix them swiftly!

FIXES
  • Fixed an issue where party members would stop following the character you’re controlling, including crashes that could occur relating to this issue.
  • Fixed a crash related to switching hair colours or highlights.
  • Fixed a crash that would occur when ending long rest and then saving.
  • Fixed a crash related to pickpocketing and trading, and using items whose ownership changed.

Hello everyone,

Fresh off Patch 8’s release, we’ve got a small hotfix for you today. Some folks just like to hang around long after they’ve overstayed their welcome, and we had a pesky issue where some summons and characters were really making their presence felt on your portrait bar. This has now been rectified. Happy gnoming and barding to you all!

FIXES
  • Fixed a recently introduced issue with summons and other characters that caused their portraits to multiply and their corpses to remain active even after they were unsummoned or killed.
  • Fixed a crash related to viewing tooltips.
  • Fixed a crash related to using the sliders on the hotbar.
  • Fixed a crash related to incorrect data.

The next time someone quotes to you from that famous old adage, "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me," grab hold of their lapels and ask:
“But what if those words were spoken by a Bard?”

Hello again, friends! I come to you today with a fresh Community Update to ring in the release of our latest patch, Patch #8: Of Valour and Lore. As you may have already gleaned from the title, today’s update introduces a playable class: Bards!

Whether they’re spitting pithy one-liners on the frontlines of combat, or inspiring your party with instrumental buffs from the sidelines, Bards are a powerful class to have in your party - a jack-of-all-trades who can cast powerful spells with just a melody, wield cutting insults as if they were weapons, and potentially kill a man with a pun about his scrotum.

But a new class isn’t all you have to look forward to in this update. Today’s patch notes are an eye-watering 19 pages-long, and features cou... Read more

Hey everyone,

We wanted to provide you another update related to our efforts to combat toxicity in Overwatch. In addition to the improved profanity filter and updated penalties for inappropriate language, we’ve also performed a manual action wave against some of the worst offenders of toxic language in Overwatch. This action will take effect with updates to profanity filter and penalties in the next live game patch.

Play nice, play fair.

Hey everyone!

We’re back with another Experimental mode focused on testing some changes to Soldier: 76’s Heavy Pulse Rifle. As with all Experimental modes, these changes are not guaranteed to reach the live version of the game.

What are we trying to address?

Compared to other hitscan Damage heroes, Soldier: 76 has been perceived as one of the weaker choices in heroes, so we want to test some adjustments to change this. Rather than making some numbers adjustments, we’d like to test out an overhaul to his shooting mechanics.

What are we testing?

In the past, we introduced bullet spread to Soldier: 76’s Heavy Pulse Rifle to make the weapon centered around controlled bursts. In this Experimental mode, we’re shifting the weapon to instead be centered around recoil and weapon control. While the change list may be short, we’re hoping that this will breathe new life into Soldier: 76’s playstyle.

We hope you check ou...

As part of our ongoing effort to ensure Overwatch provides the most welcoming environment possible for players, we’re making some changes to our penalties against players reported for inappropriate language—as well as making a few changes to our profanity filter to give players better tools to manage what kind of language they see in their games.

Improved Profanity Filter

The profanity filter in Overwatch currently provides players with two basic settings: on or off. However, this doesn’t account for players who might be OK with seeing more mature language in party chat with their friends, but would rather filter such language out when chatting with players they don’t know. In order to give players more control over the types of the language they see and the situations in which they appear, we’re making some updates to the profanity filter, which are now available for testing on the Public Test Realm (PTR).

Instead of a simple “on/off” profanity filter, there ...

Hello everyone!

This issue should now be resolved across all platforms and regions. If you’ve unlocked the 6-hour Twitch Drops reward by watching Overwatch streams, you should now see these sprays unlocked and usable in-game.

Cheers!

Hey folks-

We’re aware of an issue with the Tracer’s Comic Challenge 6 Hour rewards not being usable on accounts after watching 6-hours of Overwatch streams on Twitch. But, don’t worry - ALL watch time has been correctly tracked and rewards are being properly credited to accounts on the back-end.

We believe we’ve found a solve for this issue and we’re actively working on implementing a fix that will allow use of the sprays for accounts that have unlocked the reward.

If you want more information on the event: read here.

Thanks for your patience!

Hey everyone!

We’re back with another Experimental mode focused on increasing consistency with shotgun-style weapons (Patch Notes). As with all Experimental modes, these changes are not guaranteed to reach the live version of the game.

What are we trying to address?

Heroes with shotgun-style weapons currently experience an amount of randomness in their shots which can affect the reliability of some heroes’ weapons. We want to experiment with changes that will allow these weapons to behave more consistently.

What are we testing?

We’re looking to increase the consistency of shotgun weapons by removing the random rotation...

Hey everyone!

We have another Experimental mode focused on adjusting damage and healing output for heroes (Patch Notes). As with all Experimental modes, these changes are not guaranteed to reach the live version of the game.

What are we trying to address?

We’ve been reducing the power level of barriers in Overwatch over the past few patches. Now, with the recent updates to Tanks, we’ve seen some feedback about gameplay pacing feeling much faster with fewer barriers in-play. Also, over four years, we’ve released more than 50 major patches and even more balance-focused patches, which has led to some shifts in what would be considered the “base power” ...

Hello everyone!

We’re starting up another Experimental mode, this time featuring balance adjustments to a number of heroes (Patch Notes). While we can’t say that all of these updates will reach the live version of the game, we’re hoping this test provides some insight into changes we’re looking to make and an opportunity for feedback from our players.

What are we trying to address?

At Overwatch’s highest levels of play, we’ve seen the meta become more defined due to certain heroes over-performing. With this experiment, we’re testing some hero adjustments aimed at shifting away from a barrier-heavy meta. In addition, we’re taking this opportunity to ...

Hey folks!

Tomorrow we’re scheduled to launch an Experimental mode featuring pretty significant changes to the Assault game mode. This experiment is a bit different than previous tests – we are not planning to move these changes over to live game modes. We look at this as more of a “failed experiment” with some great learnings and interesting data that we can use for this or other game modes in the future. We’d love to hear your thoughts!

What are we trying to address?

We frequently talk about the Assault game mode internally and we’ve tried a few things over the years to address some of the issues. While most of these never made it to the live game, we thought this iteration was interesting enough that we should allow everyone to try it out within the Experimental mode and give feedback. When experimenting with this new version of the mode we focused on the following topics.

  • Snowballing – If Point A is captured quickly and aggressi...

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the feedback over the past few days about our most recent Experimental mode. If you haven’t seen the tested changes, patch notes can be found HERE. This experiment is currently scheduled to end tomorrow (Tuesday, July 28th) at 11:00 AM PDT, but we wanted to provide some insight into our next steps before then.

GENJI:

Genji’s recent buffs have increased his hero pick rate considerably. We’re excited to see the hero getting more playtime, but some of the changes pushed his power-level a bit too far. The tested changes to Shuriken are aimed at re-balancing of his burst potential. We believe these changes are the right directio...
