Depends on what that third-party content provider is up to at the time. Whether they are limiting speeds/connections, time of day, how saturated their network is. They probably provide updates for some other companies, since that’s their sole purpose.

That’s not true. I was able to update immediately upon patch release.

  1. AAA companies upload their patches to a third-party, which can share with users.
  2. Users connect to the third-party and download update.
  3. The third-party in this case is limiting download speeds and number of connections.

You can argue back and forth about it being Blizzard, but I can promise that won’t fix this for you.
