With the v15.50 patch today, we wanted to share a few updates on Large Islands and more! 

Large Islands

In the v15.50 update, Large Islands will be introduced. These islands are 155X155 tiles or about 25% larger than the previous Island. This will open up even greater possibilities within your Creative games. If you've had a Creative idea that needs just a bit more room to make happen, now's your chance to think big!

We’ll continue to explore more opportunities to expand the size of islands and will share more on that in the future.

Agent Jonesy’s search to find the best Hunters took a dark and stormy stop to LV-426. Now there’s good news… and bad news. 

Bad news first? Surprising no one, a Xenomorph was able to sneak back with Jonesy. It has been described as the perfect organism. Its structural perfection matched only by its hostility. This menacing adversary comes equipped with both the Xenomorph Tail Back Bling and Xeno Menace built-in Emote.

Good news: Jonesy’s trip has delivered one of the greatest action heroes…  Ripley. If she can stand her ground against the deadly Xenomorphs, she can take on anything on the Island. We used to offer random item Loot Llamas in Fortnite: Save the World, which was an in-game purchase option where you wouldn’t always know what you were getting. While some of you enjoyed purchasing random item Loot Llamas and being surprised by the content unlocked, others were disappointed. So we decided a better experience for players was to be upfront and outline the details of in-game purchases -- through the Item Shop and with new “X-Ray” Llamas.

Whether you were a fan of random item Loot Llamas or not, with preliminary approval for a class action settlement, we’re awarding 1,000 V-Bucks to anyone that purchased a random Loot Llama. While this settlement was for U.S. players only, we have decided to make this benefit available to players globally. There’s no action needed on your part, and you should receive your V-Bucks within the next few days.

A film festival is coming to Fortnite!

Starting February 20, 2021, at 2 PM ET, join players worldwide for the Fortnite Presents Short Nite Film Festival. Running until February 21, 2021, at 2 PM ET, Short Nite brings acclaimed animated film shorts to Party Royale’s Big Screen. Grab some popcorn (in real life or in-game), jump in with yourself or some friends, and enjoy a series of short-form cinema.

A Short Summary

The animated shorts featured in Short Nite come from around the world. (Among them are shorts that were previously nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film!)
