Get ready to see Fortnite in a new light. Beginning today, PC players using supported NVIDIA GPU cards and DirectX12 can enable ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS!

What is ray tracing?

The advanced rendering capability of ray tracing allows new visual and lighting effects previously not possible in Fortnite. With our latest update, we’re delivering improved ambient occlusion, shadows, reflections, and real-time global illumination.

How’s it look? The side-by-side screenshots below show how supporting PCs can create lifelike reflections and shadows when ray tracing is enabled. Nvidia has also pulled together a ray-traced map in Creative to show off the new tech. Use this Island code to check it out: 9189-0518-5408.

Currently, the test is only running on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The test may expand to other platforms in the future.

While we run this test, the options to go directly to the Item Shop or Locker from the end of a match will be disabled for all players temporarily.

Hey Creators,

The latest community event is here! This month, we’re looking to highlight artistically themed maps. Send us your original, most aesthetically pleasing maps for a chance to be featured. You can submit a map you’ve already created or one that’s brand new. The most important thing to remember is it should be your own original content, so no maps inspired by existing movies, video games, or other entertainment IPs will be accepted. We want to see your unique creations. Gameplay is not a requirement, but interactive ways to experience and view your island can help make the artistic piece feel more alive. The Primitive Gallery is a great place to start.
