Trainers,

Pokémon GO Fest 2020 is a wrap! Last year, we went to Chicago, Dortmund, and Yokohama to play together—this year, Pokémon GO Fest came to all of us.

For the first time ever in Pokémon GO Fest history, Pokémon GO Fest took place as a global event in an entirely virtual format, allowing Trainers worldwide to participate and play wherever they were. On July 25 and 26, this massive play-from-anywhere event provided a totally reimagined, two-day Pokémon GO Fest experience. Like in past Pokémon GO Fest events, Trainers enjoyed an exciting weekend of bonuses, Pokémon encounters, and Special Research. Team GO Rocket tried their best to take over the event on July 26, but Trainers worldwide managed to hold them off and take back Pokémon GO Fest—and even encountered Shadow Mewtwo and Victini in the process!

During Pokémon GO Fest 2020,...

Trainers,

We really thought that Team GO Rocket’s balloon take-over during our fourth-anniversary celebration was going to be their last take-over this year, but alas...they’re back. This time, it seems they’ve set their villainous sights on taking over our biggest event—Pokémon GO Fest! We’d like to thank the Pokémon GO team in the Asia-Pacific region and Trainers from around the world for alerting us to this development.

Between on-the-ground investigations and Trainer reports, we’ve managed to confirm the following information. For all Trainers, regardless of whether you have a Pokémon GO Fest 2020 ticket, keep your eyes peeled...

A mysterious duo has arrived in Pokémon GO via a...Meowth balloon? The two call themselves Jessie and James, and it looks like they’re up to no good! Help us defeat them!

As Team GO Rocket’s balloons prowl the skies, we’ve been investigating them further. The Grunts piloting the balloons are just as perplexed as we are as to where these characters came from. From what we understand, Team GO Rocket has assigned Shadow Pokémon to protect Jessie and James as they seek to create more Shadow Pokémon.

This is where you all come in! Check the map to see whether Jessie and James’s Meowth balloon is flying by. When the Meowth balloon appears, tap it to battle Jessie and James.

Plus, avatar items inspired by Jessie and James are now available in the shop!

It looks like Jessie and James won’t be here for long, so let’s GO teach these silly villains who’s boss before they leave.

We ask that you keep an eye out for balloons in the sky and battle the Team GO Rocket Grunts and Leaders piloting them. Who knows—you may even find Giovanni! Reports show that they appear once every few hours, but could appear more often during takeovers.

1. Tap a balloon to battle Team GO Rocket: Be ready for a challenge! Tap a Team GO Rocket balloon, pick your battle party, and defeat Team GO Rocket to rescue their Shadow Pokémon. Team GO Rocket balloons will hover near you for a limited time, so be sure to check the map for balloons and tap them before they fly away!
