A great question around this was raised by a customer. To do so, would break the game entirely. We have enough things to balance, without destroying the reason for playing the game. We plan to substantially expand the items you can purchase with exotics ... carefully... so we can rebalance them cautiously. But we will NOT make exotics purchasable with real world money. You are prospectors - your reward is the exotics to spend on your future missions.

There are no plans, nor mechanism, for us to offer the "exotics" currency for purchase. It would break the entire premise of the game, and remove the whole point of doing the missions. So you can rest assured, we are not allowing you to purchase exotics directly. You need to complete missions to get it.

Really sorry for the trouble folks and the rocky launch. We will have this update out in 2 hours, maybe less. It takes a long time to build and deploy to steam. We will keep pumping out updates to fix bugs, we're sorry for disrupting things for you.

We are focused on being just as responsive as we were during the beta weekends now we have transitioned into a live game. We have big plans with what we want to do, but these require us to continue to fix the game and implement things - and we appreciate the community help in doing this.

I should mention the only exception to this is offline play, which is of course not held on our servers and is cached locally.

The game is constantly saving its state to our central servers. This means you or your friends you play with can rehost at any time, greatly minimizing any chance of data loss.

Note that we do want to investigate some form of "headless client" hosting, basically sort of in between what we have now (you host and play the game), and a dedicated server. This would offline a lot of hosting functions and improve experience/performance.

No firm plans beyond investigating it. But it seems a promising solution, could even result in supporting more players (speculative though).

We needed to take the beta down, so that changes could be made to focus and prepare on our production system and servers that support the game. All focus is on supporting the full launch of the game, to ensure people have a stable experience.

We are working with Valve on preloading the game, will post when this is available. However there may be some updates, as we will be fixing issues up to and beyond the moment of launch as quick as we can.

Just as a note, we have plans to extensively add things for solo players. You will notice a number of improvements for solo players this beta weekend (which is live early, as in right now). Death run, leaving gear behind perm, adding a marker.

For future beta weekends we will be extensively expanding the solo talent tree, which will be very useful for solo players.

We worked with Valve to configure the beta so it is run on a different Application Id within the Steam system. This means that time spent on the beta, does not count towards time played with Icarus. Additionally this means that Icarus is still considered a preorder.

This is important, because it means you can refund the game at *any* time during the beta process. We make a great deal of change every two weeks, which means the game is evolving. It might not always evolve in the direction someone who got into the game in Beta Weekend 1 would like.

Remember that we don't all like the same things, and that's what makes the world interesting. Not everyone game will interest everyone. Please be respectful of each others opinions - there is nothing wrong with someone not liking the game and wanting to refund it.

Please note the steam forum guidelines are very specific about forum content.
Do not do any of the following:
* Flame or insult other members

* Post spam
I'll leave the thread open for now, but low effort posts don't help your "arguments" nor help anyone discuss them.

If you're interested in hearing more about the studio, including our offices, you should check out the regular episodes that we produce about the making of the game. Where we show around the office, and how we have set the office out to assist with the making of the game.

Remember that low effort posts are very obviously flaming, and often damage the core premise the thread may be about. If you want to discuss a topic, then make sure there is something valuable to contribute. And if you want to lay accusations - be mindful of the time place and method of doing so.

You will be able to open your visor in future. But it might be dangerous, due to gas composition changes. So don't expect to have your visor closed (or open) all the time.
