The VALORANT Lore Discord Community had the amazing opportunity to get our questions regarding VALORANT's Lore and Storytelling Philosophy answered by the Creative Director David Nottingham himself!
Here are some highlights from the Q&A!
- As we know, Brimstone and Viper are labeled as “Agents 1 and 2”
Here Nottingham suggests the two of them are not alone in being “founders” Most notably, he states they withhold information regarding the central conflict from the other Agents.
- We also discussed Radiants, and the dynamics of their powers.
Nottingham explains that there are indeed weaker and more powerful Radiants, but the VALORANT Protocol exemplifies the strongest of the bunch. He also explains the circumstances in which an individual can achieve Radiance.
- He also provided some context to Reyna’s issues with non-Radiants. Stating, “Not everyone feels the way she does.” Recall my post from launch regarding the Radiant Conflict and Reyna
- Someone also asked if it were possible for an Agent to die canonically:
- "What happened to Omen?"
- Finally, he left us with some of the design philosophy they have when it comes to implementing storytelling into a game that is primarily a competitive shooter.
