Their wording in the patch notes is “We lover her too but we’re going to have to fix that banner” I’m sorry. If you lover her too, then what is there to fix? Widejoy deserves to stay.

"If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, its yours forever. If it doesn’t, then it was never meant to be."

Let us start with what exactly Killjoy represents. Her main character trait is her genius, and her main accomplishments being all the technology that she has created for the Valorant initiative. All of this has been done at a young age which shows us that all the knowledge present to her, is both a mix of natural born talent and years of learning. This tells us that knowledge is not a purely obtained thing, fractions of it are part of you at birth (Not exact facts, but rather the tools in which Killjoy can become the knower that she is). This is also how we know that there are objective truths in our world. If someone is born with a natural talent in order to be the knower in a more effective way, that means that the knowledge given to them at birth is not absorbed through untrustworthy perceptions by our human senses, these pieces of knowledge are objective. All that one can trust to be correct is their mind, all perceptions made via our senses are untrustworthy, as there is no way to prove that they definitely exist. However, your mind is the only thing that you know exists for certain (because your mind is all you are when it boils down to it), and anything that your mind has since birth, therefore, exists for certain because you exist for certain. While it is undeniable that stuff can exist outside of our mind, their true nature can never be completely understood by us, as there is no way to verify what our perceptions tell us. Although it is unprovable, we are still able to verify some properties, which is what allows Killjoy to do the sciency nerd stuff she does.

From this we derive that Killjoy teaches us that:

  • People are not born as "Blank slates"
  • We can only trusts our minds, as that is what we are, and since we can think for ourselves, we know that we exist. "I think therefore I am".
  • Outside matter exists, however it is impossible to tell what the true nature of it is, but we can get close, and learn a lot about what we interact with.

Now, we've talked about Killjoy, and derived some answers to philosophical questions from her, but that is only one part of what makes Widejoy. We've left out the wide aspect of her, so let's talk about that now. The idea of Widejoy being, well, wide, is quite abstract, and from that we can derive the nature of existence and variance in the human mind.

Existence is weird, to put it simply. This universe can feel completely random, and I think that is what Widejoy tries to teach us. This ties into her previous ideas of nothing besides our mind being known for certain, but it actually goes beyond that. Have you ever had an unlucky spray? Teammates that play like they're spinning a spinner to decide every move? I could keep going but the point is that Widejoy's demonstration of the abstract nature of the universe is to explain for all that. Some things in this world are simply unpredictable, and those things are variables that can be accounted for as an uncertainty. If we worry over controlling each and every one of these uncontrollable variables in order for our life to be ideal, we will overwork to no results and it will lead to a painful experience. This teaches us that if there is something that can not be controlled, then there is no point in worrying over it, and that we should simply let it be, as an uncontrollable variable, account for it, but do not use it as a way to hinder your life. This is the Widejoy concept. The uncontrollable variable that effects Widejoy the most is the variance in the human mind. The knowledge that one is born with is not the same between all people, some have more, Killjoy (and by extension Widejoy) are the prime example of this. Everybody has a different amount of knowledge that they are born with, that's why there isn't a world full of Killjoy's (Unless Earth 3 happens to be Killjoy world?). In the end, the wide aspect of Widejoy is what tells us our most important lesson, not everything in the abstract universe can be controlled, and that which can not be controlled should not control your mind, however, you should account for these things in order to make sure they don't derail you from your goals either. In the words of Killjoy "Relax! I've already thought of everything"

To summarize, Widejoy as a philosophy teaches us lessons in the nature of truth, the existence of ourselves and the world around us, and The Widejoy Concept, which is a concept that helps us navigate through life with less stress, as Widejoy would want for us.

I think I just became smarter. Thank you.
