Now hear me out. We know from the many variations of viper’s voice line that he has had many aliases (codenames) in the past. (I.e. Jeff, Fred, etc.)
We also know that, surprisingly enough, Omen is not actually a true radiant in the way that agents like Jett and Phoenix are. His radiant-like nature does stem from a radianite-related incident, but he is not a true radiant. This may be hard to believe, but as we can tell from Omen’s wiki, “ When Omen was contacted by the Blackmailer, the Blackmailer specifically denoted Omen's radiant classification with an asterisk, suggesting there is something different about Omen compared to other radiants.” This is why Skye “loses” Omen when he teleports, because there is something unnatural about his teleportation. I would normally chalk this up to voice line filler, but she’s doesn’t say this when Yoru teleports or travels to another dimension. I believe this is because Yoru’s radianite abilities are untainted, and Omen’s are corrupted.
We know that Omen received his abilities from an incident of unknown origin, but we also know that this same incident actually killed the person who Omen was before. This is why he doesn’t know who he was, because that man is dead.
Here’s the crazy bit: I think the man that Omen was, is Paul. Let me explain.
There are many radianite involved accidents throughout the valorant lore. One for each map except Icebox and Split, in fact. But there is one radianite incident that is different from the rest: Fracture. Not only did the incident result in multiple casualties, the incident was not simply due to radianite. It was due to the fact that those people working at the facility on fracture were experimenting with it. That is, until Chamber shot the reactor, resulting in a radianite explosion.
“But why Paul?” You ask. Good question. Besides an emphasis being put on Paul for no apparent reason other than for fun, we find Paul’s employee keycard lying around on fracture. Personally, the only ID I carry is the ID I need. I believe Paul was doing this the day the explosion happened. I believe he was caught in the explosion, or as Omen’s wiki states, he was “ripped apart and killed”. I cannot think of anyone reasonable explanation for a death described like this than an explosion. I believe that it blew his keycard off of his body, and when he awoke, having been killed but revived through radianite, he had no identification on him to tell him who he was. Only Viper was able to figure out who he was before. Her old friend.
That brings us to our next part. “But wasn’t he an agent before he died? Didn’t he go on missions with Viper?”
Oddly enough, not specifically, no. We only know that Omen and viper were close, through their work. We are never told that that “work” is missions, and we only know one other thing that Viper does. She’s a scientist. Paul, though he may not have specifically been a scientist, wears a Hazmat suit. This means he is dealing with unstable chemicals, radiation, or radia-nite. The two very well could have worked together in a lab. Viper may have been absent the day of the explosion, due to a mission or otherwise.
But that’s my two cents. What do you think?
(Side note, Paul works for kingdom and so did Omen. Paul’s hazmat suit even looks like an orange, intact version of Omen’s cloak. But it’s all speculation.)
