I was looking at my gun buddies and noticed that one of them looked different than the original gun buddy. I originally thought this was an Easter egg with the protocol skin set but then I checked with other guns and skins. I'm aware of some Easter eggs but I haven't heard anything about this. It appears to be a weirdly textured game controller gun buddy. Its also not specific to a gun or skin set.
