Tried out a new type of informative video for this release. Helpful? Useless cause of leaks? Let me know what you think! I'll be around to answer any questions you may have as well.

The video only mentions the tiger concussing enemies but an earlier leak of the abilities in game said that it also dealt damage? Can you clarify?

Yep. It does a small amount of damage to the first target hit (last I checked it was 30 damage, probably changed). It concusses in an AOE.

Incredibly useful, far better than the leaks, would be even better still if it had ability costs, damage values, durations and starting charges. i.e. does she start with 3 charges of her flash. That's the sort of thing leakers will almost never beat you to releasing info about.

Yeah that makes sense. One thing we always have to deal with when making videos like this (or champion spotlights for League) is that our game gets patched every two weeks. Meaning if we include all of that info it can become outdated almost immediately, so future watchers would get the wrong information.

However, the majority of views come from the release... so it's definitely a balance we try to find.

yes it's really helpful, and one thing I would do different is to show the abilities in different maps, so it makes the video more dinamic maybe?

Hmm that's an interesting perspective. We tried to make it very clean/simple so that there are no distractions for the viewers. Could definitely see how making it a bit more visually diverse could be useful though.

will it concuss teammates if they are in range of it?

Nah, it does not hit allies.

Thanks! And for what it's worth, the video was great for getting official information without everything being released. The lead up to this next Act has been great! Waking up each morning with a little bit more information has been a treat and a good way to get hyped for the next Act.

Awesome! Glad to hear you're enjoying all the content

I was actually correct with every of her ability and the fact that you can counter them, but the heal seems to be too strong... sage single heal is slower then hear group heal? I mean what the hack? and it heals up to 100hp?

Either bring sage heal up, or nerf that pre release.

So, I think it's totally healthy and natural to approach stuff like this with skepticism. Skye can definitely heal a lot in a round in the right conditions (all her allies take heavy chip damage but don't die, and she's allowed to stand in LoS of them and channel for several seconds to heal them to full).

It is not our intention for all characters with a heal to have similar outputs. Sage's heal and Skye's heal do not need to be the same, just like Jett's smokes and Omen's smokes are not the same, or Phoenix's flashes and Breach's flashes are not the same. They do have their comparative advantages, though - Phoenix flashes don't flash for as long, but are faster to use.

Sage's heal can be used long range to heal a single ally, and can also be used to heal herself - she's a sentinel, after all. Skye's heal is close range only, requires channeling, and can't be used to heal herself, but scales with the number of allies around, encouraging grouping around the Skye. Rest assured we'll keep an eye on this, and if her healing potential is too high on average, we will nerf it.

Healing is a very sensitive subject in Valorant. If we released a character who had a new, larger or more damaging molotov, I don't think many people would come out saying that they expect us to nerf it to match Brimstone or Phoenix's molotov. But since healing is such a new and unique output, people tend to value it over other outputs like blinds or damage, or expect them to be in parity with each other, which isn't really the intent. We'd design ourselves into a box if all of our abilities were expected to be equal with each other - when possible, I think it's best to compare agents' entire kits to each other, instead of individual abilities.

Incredibly informative and useful! Keep it up! One question tho, that maybe you won't be able to answer (if so just say so), what's the logic behind her AoE heal beeing able to heal up the entire team back to 100hp when you guys nerfed Sage single heal to not beeing able to do that? Even with sage nerf reverted it's still far worse, any insights? Thanks! Nice work on the agent btw, love her :)

I'm not a designer, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I believe the idea is that her heal takes longer and makes her more vulnerable, as she has to channel while she does it.

In terms of strength: While the AOE is quite large, if you want to heal your whole team, your whole team needs to be in one spot which is normally not the optimal play. Also, it does not heal her, only her allies.

Fair answer! Thank you for giving this insight. I agree that those heals don‘t need to be the same and we need to take a look at the entire kit. Also I really think we should play her in order to make our opinions on her but it just feels weird to see her speed of healing compared to the one of sage, since its single target. On the other hand the heal costs cash and thats something we need to consider

Yup, these are all great points! And honestly, for what it's worth, I do think that this tuning of Skye's C makes her a "better healer" than Sage in a lot of situations, so I don't think that assessment is unreasonable. It's mostly just that Skye having potential for higher healing output in certain situations doesn't necessarily mean that we need to nerf it, or buff Sage's heal - they can both exist and be valuable within the context of their kits and what other utility they bring to the team.

Just to be extra clear, I don't mean to imply that this tuning is perfect or immune from criticism - I'm mostly just talking about the lens through which we view agent power. We'll keep a close eye on it and see if it feels reasonable or not before & after launch :)
