We are aware of an issue for some players where the Warframe Launcher is immediately crashing when you try to start it. This is most likely to affect players with computer names with extended Unicode characters, or people that have shut down the Launcher while it was in the middle of attempting to update a core file.

If you are experiencing issues where the Launcher refuses to start, regrettably some manual action may be required. If you are not confident with your ability to work with files on your computer, the safest route is to simply reinstall Warframe. If you are willing to be a little more technical, follow these steps:

  • Find the Warframe Launcher’s files (these are examples, your specific location may be different depending where you choose to install the game)
    • Windows Standalone clients:  %localappdata%\Warframe\Downloaded\Public\Tools\CEF3_1\V7\
    • Steam clients: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Warframe\Tools\CEF3_1\V7\
    • Epic clients: C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Warframe\Downloaded\Public\Tools\CEF3_1\V7\
  • Download icudtl.zip from our website:  https://content.warframe.com/V7_icudtl.zip
  • Make sure the Launcher is not currently running
  • Unzip icudtl.zip and put icudtl.dat into the  “V7” folder that you found in step 1  (icudtl.dat, 10462432 bytes, CRC BBBB1B13)
  • Run the Warframe Launcher

Either of these options: reinstalling the game or manually delivering the missing resource, should allow the Launcher to function normally again and update the game.
We will continue to watch for other launcher related issues.

Sorry for the inconvenience!
