1079s like veilbreaker at tennocon uh it's
1081s going to be the update that brings you
1082s our 50th warframe styanax and like megan

1089s new content to revised content and it's

1614s think it was dated to november of last
1616s year right and obviously a lot of things
1618s happen in between so this is how far
1620s back at least on my end and i bet that
1622s concept existed even before probably a
1624s date on it to be honest
1628s okay so yeah so i think the the early
1630s explorations were as far as you know
1633s pre-christmas time of last year and i
1634s think
1635s you know we had a few other releases in
1637s between and 10 o'clock obviously and i
1638s think
1639s actually it's funny i did not know that
1641s this was the 50th warframe until it was
1644s you know up until a few maybe a few
1645s months ago so i think that really ramped
1647s up the pressure back then yeah yeah if
1649s people don't like this it's your fault

1752s with the animation is now i want more

1758s speaking of modeling we have a couple
1760s more images um from the helmets dynax
1762s has helmet alt helmet that i believe you
1764s worked on this is the first one yeah

1770s other members of our team

1773s all the alternate helmets were made not
1775s by me i think this one was rough then
1777s but we had another really talented
1778s artist on our team take over um
1781s i don't know can we can we reveal that

1790s have a few uh renderings of those yeah

1809s yeah so we had to really dig deep and
1811s figure out you know what those alternate
1813s helmet looks what alternate helmets look

1816s and so i think um yeah i think they did
1818s a great job on those
1821s and we have another image that is a nice
1824s 360 every angle you could possibly ever
1826s need um of stein x and his uh
1830s that's right so in another case of i
1832s think working in parallel where where we
1834s had the concept and illustration team
1836s having to start get started on the press
1839s cards or the press card oh
1841s is that oh i'm sorry did i show it

1847s that's something that working in
1848s parallel with the concept team um you
1851s know
1852s in between the concept the original
1853s concept and of course my model we had to
1855s make sure that we kind of coordinate and

1864s team so they can work from that as well
1866s so mm-hmm and uh

1928s but he's also going to have a liverian
1930s so because we did the anime as you can
1933s imagine the liverian and the anime are
1935s very closely linked with maybe one or
1936s two more pieces of lore in the liverian
1939s itself so they complement each other
1941s really nicely so if you're in i know i
1943s just need to watch this it's so good
1945s anyway so so this is uh this is um i'm
1948s just gonna go bursting because why not
1950s classic legacy weapon this is steinax
1953s that's his agile animation set we can
1955s also throw on the noble set uh and yeah
1957s we can get a closer look thanks to the
1959s zoom technology 2022.

2153s something about it that felt kind of
2155s classic warframe in a way you know the
2157s fact that the legs are human legs the
2159s arms are human aren't oh yeah by the way
2161s this is coming with mailbreaker and it's
2163s pre-processing that's why it's uh he's
2165s doing that it's a little chugging

2168s and i think his kid is also his kid is
2170s kind of like
2171s a little more uh stripped down in a way
2174s it's not as uh crazy as some of the
2176s others we have made
2177s so uh we started this one what would you
2180s put on spearboy for his one throwing
2183s spears i mean what else are you gonna do
2186s you saw a throne spear there
2188s uh if you hit an enemy and then the
2190s enemy hits a wall which happens a lot
2192s because there's walls all over the place
2193s and you hit them really hard it creates
2195s a little vortex and
2197s as mega man we recorded megan for the
2199s sound effect that is exactly the same
2201s effect that we put there uh and then you
2203s bring
2204s enemies together so

2249s want them to hit a wall so if you jump
2252s and spear them down that vortex happens

2330s their their shields and their armor uh

2334s and do i talk about armor shredding now
2336s yes you do okay so
2338s when i was doing this one i started kind
2341s of looking at um
2343s at how armor shredding works on
2344s different abilities i noticed that it
2346s was pretty inconsistent so essentially
2348s in some in some warframes when we do
2351s armor shredding by like 50
2353s essentially what we do is first we go
2355s from 100 to a 50 and then if we take
2358s another 50 we just take 25 because it's
2360s a 50
2362s of the 50 percent and then you take
2364s another 50 and now we only took 12.5 and
2366s 70. it just kind of go down down down
2368s and it takes like seven hits to fully
2370s remove armor
2372s and that's how most armor shredding
2374s works in fact there's only one that's
2375s different and that's overrun so overall
2378s the way it works with him is if he does
2380s two
2381s strips of 50 he actually takes off a
2383s hundred percent
2384s so
2385s i didn't like that it was inconsistent
2387s so we actually changed them all instead
2389s of to the way that most do it we change
2391s them to the overall way so now all armor
2394s stripping abilities are more efficient
2396s but are more effective so essentially if
2398s you hit
2399s twice with a 50
2401s you'll strip 100
2402s on all armor stripping abilities that
2405s are percentage
2407s i mentioned percent base because for
2409s example mag is not percent base she's
2411s like a fixed amount so that one didn't
2413s change it's only the percent ones that
2415s are changed and we change it for a whole
2416s bunch of them i don't have a list with
2418s me but it's a bunch
2420s on top of that we also did a few
2421s revisions to numbers on a few of them so
2423s for example
2425s i'm going to do this from memory so
2426s sorry if i don't if i don't bring them
2428s up but
2429s terrify i think we went from like 30
2432s percent
2433s to 75 percent
2435s uh overall we went from 30 to 50 strip
2438s we increased a few uh not a ton but like
2441s four or five i think we increased and we
2443s also changed a few from being duration
2445s based to being permanent
2447s so
2448s the one i remember right now for that i
2450s think is banshee with the augment
2453s the sonic fracture augment yeah i think
2455s branching with the sonic fragment
2456s augment used to be duration based now
2458s it's permanent so once you hit them uh
2461s they don't have the armor and they stay
2463s without the armor and oh my god breaking
2465s news back to science abilities oh yes
2468s no no you're like you do what you got to
2469s do but we gotta talk about the other two
2471s sorry but it's also worth mentioning
2473s that shield one is the helmet's
2474s sustainability so you'll feel that that
2476s is your bash
2477s yeah as anyone
2479s uh yeah so the reason i looked at the
2481s whole armor shredding is because this
2483s one armor shreds and in the process of
2485s seeing that inconsistency is that we
2487s deserve to change everything right so uh
2490s yeah
2491s third ability here we go ability here we
2493s go so this is a buff i mean it's uh
2495s basically it's called a rally or well
2497s actually i don't even know what it is
2502s so basically what it does is uh buffs
2504s nearby alice and yourself
2506s to get a passive energy region and every
2508s time you get an assist on a kill you
2511s gain shields and that yes i'm going to
2513s do is ultimate before the level ends so
2514s okay all i'm one guy though so prepare
2516s yourself
2517s okay ultimate on one guy
2526s if you saw the moment from the end of
2527s the the animation where he jumps up and
2530s then just summons like energy spears and
2532s starts throwing them at the thing that's
2534s basically the ultimate
2536s and basically it does yeah it does a
2538s whole bunch of damage does slash proc so
2540s it's kind of
2541s it's pretty beastly again and it scales
2543s pretty well

2556s crit chance on weapons based on the
2559s amount of shields he has so

2562s shield mods and you get overshields
2565s which works with his three which is as
2567s you're killing you start gaining shields
2568s and getting overshields that increases
2570s the crit chance with weapons
2572s the effect is doubled for speargun
2574s weapons
2575s which i guess i also have to talk about

2582s spilled it but overall that is uh
2584s gameplay of styanx as you can see axios
2586s javelin theros strike rally point and
2589s final stand make up visibilities

2697s so it is our 30 second major update so
2699s it's update 32 it's going to have a
2702s small quest that introduces you to the
2704s future of bail breaking so if you've
2705s played the new war you kind of can get
2707s the idea of where did the world state
2710s leave off after everything that happened
2712s in the new war and bail breaker is the
2714s update that speaks to that introduces
2716s new systems and things for you to play
2718s that speak to what state things might be
2721s in so we're not gonna give any spoilers
2722s but i want to make sure that players
2723s have a pretty good understanding of all
2725s the expectations for this update so
2727s there's a quest that's going to kick
2728s things off
2730s and then it's going to lead into the two
2731s systems we're adding to the game for
2733s content which we'll talk about
2734s then of course all of this is behind the
2737s new war so if you haven't finished the
2738s new war yet get on in there we've done a
2740s lot of improvements to getting there
2742s from a new player perspective we have
2744s even more coming in this update with
2745s junction improvements just to make that
2746s flow easier uh but it does bring back a
2749s character from the new war it brings a
2751s way for this new character which spoiler
2753s it's called uh is going to interact with
2756s who could it be how call interacts with
2758s the world uh and it's going to bring it
2760s down in a weekly activity way so players
2762s can sort of know what to expect when it
2764s comes to what they're going to be doing
2765s with the content here and a lot of that
2767s content is around call and a lot of it
2769s is around something called the archons
2770s which if you've played the new war
2772s you'll see we're not going to show it
2773s for spoilers but you'll get a really
2774s good idea if you are on the tip of the
2777s spear

2780s that's sort of the overview and then
2781s with all the new comes quality of life
2784s so we also have
2786s i think there's a second slide here um
2788s that tells you that yes of course styanx
2790s is coming also new 50th warframe

2840s if you don't know if you love a
2841s syndicate you put on a sigil and you say
2844s to yourself do i want to support you

2847s and awesome or do i want to support red
2848s veil because i like to kill people
2850s but what you'll notice is that the
2852s sigils as you can see no longer have any
2854s percent associated with them which means
2856s they're purely
2857s cosmetic

2865s that so you no longer now the sigils are
2868s just for who do you want to represent
2871s what does look cool with your fashion

2882s you go to syndicate's console and there
2884s it is pledge allegiance to a syndicate
2886s to increase your standing with that
2887s syndicate and its allies and earn
2889s rewards you lose standing with
2890s syndicates that oppose your pledged
2892s ideals but can rescind your pledge at
2893s any time
2894s so for me you've done voiceover work
2896s before yeah some would say so say i want
2898s to switch it up and be a part of the
2900s parent sequence i click pledge

2908s but now he likes me so i'm happy
2910s but then at any time i can rescind it if

2946s syndicate you'll basically start earning
2948s higher bonuses and that basically
2950s it really comes in more for speeding up
2953s if you want to do transitions between
2954s them or when you want to fill up your
2956s standing for um yeah so if you hide
2957s esteem what pablo just said is right
2959s there in the ui so you don't need to
2961s worry about that bonus because i'm max
2962s rank earning 15 of affinity so you'll be
2965s able to swap and stuff the percent still
2968s scale based on rank for syndicates

3003s that you know or all of our veterans
3005s have so we wanted to kind of make them a
3007s bit more accessible especially for for
3010s that crowd so we touched a few things
3013s um i don't have
3015s we did those like maybe like between
3017s three and two months ago so i don't
3019s remember them all by her i got a whole
3020s list if you want me to arrive enough to

3025s i'll correct you so in excalibur the
3026s main focus was his one uh basically we
3029s added um
3030s if i remember correctly we added slash
3032s prox2 every swing it's much faster it
3035s feels snappier there was some touch-ups
3037s to the effects to make it look a little
3039s more more oomfy
3041s more satisfying when you're doing the
3043s the attacks um
3046s for his two i don't think we changed
3047s anything in particular uh for his three
3050s we did a slash broke to hit we removed
3053s the enemy cap i guess the enemy cap
3055s isn't really for new players but anyways
3058s and then i think for his fourth we
3060s didn't change anything
3062s in general what we did do and this is
3064s this applies to all three
3066s a few of the stats for the abilities
3069s if you guys remember the change we did
3071s for arcanes where they had like four
3072s different stats and they all scaled
3074s every rank we changed their case to now
3076s have only one stat that ranks every rank
3078s and everything else is pushed to the max
3080s we did that with a few of the abilities
3082s here and the the overall objective of
3084s that is that if you have a lot of
3086s abilities that are scalable rank then
3088s the improvements become exponential
3091s uh whereas if you just have uh one
3094s it's linear right so basically we wanted
3096s to make it you're raising the floor but
3099s keeping the ceiling the same that's kind
3101s of what we're doing so we did that with
3103s this one's again in the
3105s for the intent of it being
3107s and feeling better when you're does that
3108s mean i can put slash dash back on my
3110s excalibur
3111s should i consider doing that you should
3113s definitely consider it it definitely can
3115s it does pack a punch
3117s um
3118s then for mag
3120s big changes on
3121s her too
3122s that one we can show if you want i don't
3124s know if you want to show it but uh
3126s basically the problem generally with mag
3128s is whenever you pulled uh enemies would
3130s just pull in your direction
3132s for one her one yeah yeah sorry if i
3134s said big changes for her too no uh i'd
3137s say i was uh hurt too her like wow
3141s as well additionally yeah okay um
3144s yeah so her pull uh generally you would
3146s pull enemies and they would just end up
3148s way behind you and you'd have no way to
3150s shoot them it'd be kind of uncomfortable
3152s often so now when you pull they pull in
3155s front of you we made a little vortex in
3157s front of you so you kind of just gather
3159s them up and smash them uh it is honestly
3162s maybe a little too powerful
3166s but it is really fun it feels much
3168s better to use you can gather enemies and
3170s just kind of if you're using melee you
3172s can just land them right there
3174s if you're using um
3176s the second ability it also is very good
3178s because you basically gather them on the
3181s on the bubble so
3183s it definitely it definitely feels pretty
3185s good uh one thing we did change here is
3187s because it's so much power so much more
3189s powerful now the helmet version was
3191s reduced so just bear that in mind if uh
3194s if you're gonna be using it as usual
3197s whenever there's a reduced version in
3199s the comments there's uh there's a note
3201s in the tooltip itself where you can see
3203s the the updated stats
3206s so put yeah pull pulls things no longer
3208s behind you in range where you can
3209s actually go go to town yeah so as you
3212s can see it is pretty effective because
3214s he literally just leaves them right
3215s there for you
3216s served in a platter for you to destroy
3219s i love things on a platter yeah
3221s um
3223s then for her uh her one also now
3225s synergizes well i guess this would be
3227s with her tree okay so her tree always
3229s created those little sharks a lot of
3231s players didn't even know this was a
3232s thing because they are kind of hard to
3234s see and they're you know
3236s they never wear a big deal so you see
3238s those little lights over there now when
3240s you pull them you can see they hover
3242s around you
3243s uh if enemies get close to you they deal
3245s damage to them
3247s and then also if you then cast the
3250s magnetized bubble those little things
3252s will fly into the magnetized bubble to
3254s basically buff it up as uh as you guys
3258s are used to right so you can see them uh
3260s spinning there and dealing damage well
3263s that guy was already dead
3265s you see what i'm saying um
3268s and i think that's it i think that's it
3270s so it's mostly about buffing making the
3272s mechanics of that of the polarized
3274s shards much more clearer
3276s connecting them to other abilities and
3278s then making that one way more powerful
3281s people that play the index are saying
3282s they're financially stressed by that
3284s ability
3286s i can see that index index folks
3290s and finally bolt bolt is the one that
3292s receives the least amount of changes
3293s because he was pretty solid already
3296s a lot of what i mentioned earlier you
3297s know buffing those those base stats to
3299s to max rank uh his one is now 15 energy
3303s instead of 25 that's something we're
3305s trying just like how does it like we
3308s generally ability first abilities have
3310s always been 25 kind of universally we're
3312s trying it on this one see how it feels
3315s to have a 15 energy
3317s version of it
3318s um for his uh shield
3322s most of the changes are to the carry
3324s version uh it no longer uh for the
3327s character i can't carry it's okay i
3329s didn't know i had my
3331s ultimate version so that's exciting
3333s it no longer adds extra energy drain it
3336s no longer slows you down it no longer
3338s limits you to secondary so all of those
3341s extra limitations are gone
3343s so it's much more comfortable to use
3345s well it's actually much more viable to
3347s use because a lot of people were not
3348s using it as as it was yes and uh did i
3352s miss anything no you oh
3354s wow
3355s what am i even here for i'm not as
3357s female as i thought
3359s i'm just gonna jump in and i saw someone
3361s in chat asking about the gilding changes
3362s that's just a conversation so
3364s essentially as we're looking through
3365s like i said the new war is a you know
3368s prerequisite to play the veil breaker
3369s stuff getting people to new ore in a way
3370s that is streamlined and interesting and
3372s fun with all the content we have uh
3374s gilding changes speak to that so
3376s essentially the gilding system as it is
3378s now it takes your modular gear um and it
3381s you know you can gild it to not only
3383s increase their stats but also to start
3385s earning mastery from it and other things
3387s but what we've done with gilding now is
3389s as a functionality for modular gear it
3391s is now the gate to mastery so that means
3394s that your modular stuff from your zaws
3396s to your kit guns are going to give
3399s gilded level stats when you build it and
3402s then you can choose to guild it if you
3403s want to earn mastery so gilding for the
3405s player that's looking for power or cus i
3407s think customization's too still actually
3410s but as far as functionality goes you
3411s will get your stats at the just modular
3415s level so that if you're wanting to build
3417s a different amp because you know you
3418s need a better amp for the quests to come
3420s after second dream you'll be able to get
3422s stats from those before having to guild
3425s and turn in which really comes down to
3427s the way that the quills syndicate works
3430s because you know you need to progress a
3431s lot in that syndicate before you can
3433s guild your amp but now the amp you make
3436s is going to just be better um as you're
3438s earlier in that syndicate which was the
3439s real
3440s motivation for that change for
3442s for folks one change i forgot about both
3444s them
3447s one more i just saw someone chad mention
3449s it i did uh the speed buff is actually
3452s higher now a little bit i don't remember
3454s the number what you're increasing volt
3456s speed though yeah
3459s and we're slightly increasing the
3461s duration not a lot i know
3464s because of change the comment i was
3466s seeing in chat is like hey what increase
3468s the duration i i don't like the uh in
3471s general i think it feels better when a
3473s buff is not like something that you just
3476s have all the time because then you don't
3477s even really like feel when the speed
3479s comes in so it's higher it's constant
3483s for all ranks so rank rank 0 will have
3486s the same duration as max rank they're
3488s all raised to the ceiling it's a little
3490s higher but not a lot higher but the
3492s speed itself is high
3494s excellent anything else

3505s right so with ribbons if you come to the
3507s game my game play i'm just gonna kind of
3509s recap how they currently work uh you
3511s never know someone's experience level in
3512s chat but essentially you have ribbon
3514s slots and those ribbon slots are
3516s occupied by any ribbon you get in the
3518s game so ribbon capacity yeah so your
3520s ribbon capacity mine right now is 117.
3523s i'm almost at capacity and every ribbon
3525s i get is going to feed into that but
3527s we are changing that change that i made
3529s a great video on it dean if you'd like
3531s to roll my video that i made this
3532s morning um yeah so basically there's
3535s those two stats now we have a new kind
3538s of state for the ribbon where
3540s essentially you're going to get your
3542s ribbon and it is going to stack and it
3544s is going to be basically a secret you're
3545s going to obviously know what weapon to
3546s put it on so that you can equip it as
3548s you can see it kind of goes by a little
3549s fast but as soon as you equip that
3551s ribbon onto that weapon it unveils it
3554s you can see what the actual challenge is
3555s and then it counts towards your ribbon
3557s capacity so you can just keep earning
3558s ribbons and not equipping it and knowing
3561s what it's for and it doesn't stack
3562s towards that uh capacity you have yeah
3565s it's like a pre-capacity bucket so that
3567s sometimes we've always struggled with
3569s you can't do a sortie because your
3570s ribbon capacity is full and that's just
3572s sort of a bit of a not a pleasant flow
3575s for the player so this solves that
3577s yeah essentially it was like a
3580s it felt sometimes like a pressure to
3582s pressure to purchase which we generally
3584s don't like we like when players buy
3586s something because they either want to
3588s support us or they want to actually get
3589s something in the in the game and this
3591s sometimes felt like
3593s well you cannot play anymore like you
3595s cannot do sorties if you're at cap and
3597s things like that and it just it just
3599s felt bad to add that pressure there so
3600s we just changed it so that it's a little
3602s more um
3603s a little more relaxed and you can kind
3605s of save them there and then once you
3606s actually want to start using them then
3608s you
3609s do that step to kind of reveal them uh
3612s it does have a little bit of complexity
3613s to the system because now we have three
3614s states but it's not too much so i think
3616s it's too much i think it's uh

3704s you know obviously in hindsight we can
3705s see now that that that actual
3707s functionality was doing
3709s quite a bit of work on maintaining the
3712s usage of aoe under control
3714s and that control has been gone for a
3717s while
3719s so the first thought is like okay
3721s why are we changing it
3723s what reasons do we have
3725s so we generally look at uh there's many
3728s things to look at whenever we decide to
3730s make a change but there's three that
3731s generally do me pretty well for almost
3733s any gameplay thing that i'm looking at
3737s one is
3738s looking at
3739s how automated is it you know is it
3741s something that you're actually playing
3743s is it something that you can
3745s uh kind of not play and ignore and for
3748s this uh we actually have some uh we have
3750s footage of how we play for the live
3758s this is showing the fact that there's no
3760s consequence to using it well there's a
3762s few things being shown here yeah
3764s essentially you can run through a
3765s mission like this kind of shooting a a
3767s rocket at your feet murdering everything
3770s in a long long range
3772s uh you never run out of ammo you never
3774s suffer much damage
3776s it's it's very very um
3778s i wouldn't say it's automated but i
3780s would give it a half a point for
3781s automatically we can take a look at full
3783s automation with the second aoe
3785s yeah it's gonna use a little more uh
3787s yeah so there's this one uh
3790s this one basically uh we had one of the
3792s testers try this and he stayed there
3794s several minutes never ran out of energy
3796s never run out of ammo never died like he
3799s could even collect enough uh
3801s survival um thingy from just standing
3804s there doing essentially nothing just
3805s shooting at the floor you don't even
3807s have to see the enemies about eight
3808s years ago when we first debated putting
3810s an explosive weapon into the game at all
3812s look at us now did you say yesterday
3813s look at that
3816s possibly be my fault
3819s you wanted grenade launchers carry
3820s didn't you i liked quake a lot
3826s um so yeah we feel like this this style
3829s of gameplay has become pretty
3831s it's pretty bad like you know you're
3833s uh you know
3835s you're not playing games yeah and i
3836s think just for like people that are
3838s mentally organized for how we're going
3840s to go through this there's three things
3841s three core rules for how we address
3843s balance the first one is automated right
3845s and then you're going to take us through
3846s the other two and we have some more
3847s videos right
3848s so the second one is dominance and we've
3850s done this before for example with
3852s catchment when weapons become so
3855s overwhelmingly
3857s dominant that you basically have almost
3860s no choice but to use them if you use
3862s anything else you almost feel like
3864s you're playing wrong
3865s because what's going to compete with
3867s what you're seeing on screen right like
3868s it's just
3869s you're just devastating entire rooms
3871s without having to aim without a care in
3873s the world it's very hard to have
3875s anything else that can compete with
3877s something like that so right now out of
3879s our top five weapons uh all five are aoe
3883s they comprise 47 of our weapon usage
3887s it's essentially
3888s kind of all there is
3890s so use aoe or you're playing wrong as a
3892s trend so uh yes you can come back to us
3894s now dean this i'm sure people are not
3896s getting any interest do you get it yet
3900s yeah like that's just the location
3902s that's the extreme use case that's when
3906s like that particular use case is when
3908s you are automating and playing people do
3910s play and engage with warfarin with 80
3911s weapons we're not painting everyone with
3912s the same brush we're just showing the
3915s extremes that we see when we get these
3917s reports and and actually the last point
3919s so a if you're not doing that you're
3921s playing wrong and the final one which is
3922s for our co-op game the most important
3924s are you disrupting other players yeah
3926s and that that comes down to like how
3928s disruptive is your game play to other
3930s players that might join you because at
3931s the end of the day this is a co-op game
3934s uh we need to like we need to try and
3936s keep the game fun for everyone and so
3939s make it so that one player cannot kind
3940s of quote unquote ruin it for the rest
3943s i think a great example of this is when
3945s we made changes to limbo the problem
3947s wasn't really that
3949s limbo was too strong or the limit was
3950s whatever it was mostly that whenever a
3952s player was playing with old limbo it was
3954s just annoying to play with their limbo
3956s because he would just freeze the enemies
3958s you couldn't shoot them
3959s he like limbo could really ruin the game
3961s for you yeah rest in peace
3966s uh and i think it's similar for this uh
3968s we don't generally see
3970s players asking us to nerf things it's
3972s very very unusual but we are seeing it
3975s quite a bit with aoe i'm sure you've
3976s seen it on forums on reddit and twitter
3979s you know i get this is one of i can't
3982s even remember another thing i've been
3983s asked to nerf in dms before
3986s but this one is one because it is
3988s making the game uh less fun for other
3991s players that want to try other gameplay
3994s styles
3995s this one has become so dominant they
3996s just cannot really coexist with it
4000s so yeah so those are
4002s those are actually
4003s those are wise now what are we doing uh
4007s we try to approach this in a kind of
4009s holistic way so we're gonna so this is
4011s gonna be kind of complicated because i'm
4013s gonna come at it from many different
4015s angles
4016s uh we're not doing like i don't think
4018s any of this changes on their own are
4021s huge
4022s they're like small changes all over the
4024s place so
4026s let me start with ammo
4028s so ammo we are actually we're already
4030s working on changing ammo before we
4032s started doing this and it just happened
4034s to
4035s be something that worked pretty well
4036s together
4037s so what we wanted to change with so i'll
4039s start with what we were changing for
4040s ammo and then at the end i'll mention
4042s why it matters for aoe
4044s so
4045s in ammo we have four different types of
4046s ammo that drop regularly in the game we
4049s have five if you count heavy ammo but i
4051s won't
4051s so those four types basically be
4053s secondary primary shotgun and sniper
4057s and then basically those drop in the
4059s floor they have different different
4060s colors and then you pick them up uh
4063s for the most part players are not really
4066s very aware of ammo because it's just you
4068s can just kind of ignore it it doesn't
4070s really serve much purpose other than
4071s seeing a whole bunch of little color
4073s things sprinkled around the level
4076s so we were we were trying to simplify it
4078s and we are changing it into primary and
4080s secondary only
4082s no more separation for shotgun or for uh
4085s sniper
4087s so
4088s what does that mean for you if you came
4090s with your with your shotgun to a mission
4092s it means that now when you kill an enemy
4095s instead of having a one out of four
4097s chance of getting ammo that actually
4099s helps you you now get one out of two so
4101s that basically now ammo was a little
4103s more plentiful for you
4105s on top of that we actually increase how
4107s much ammo you get from each uh bucket
4110s because we reduced how often they drop
4112s so we've
4114s they're now twice as useful
4116s we reduce how often they drop by half so
4119s now we're even and then we increased how
4121s much ammo they give so now it's above
4124s does that make sense it does so when we
4126s talk about like this so far how does
4128s this relate to aoe we'll get to you said
4129s you're going to take a few different
4130s angles but i think you know if you're
4132s really passionate about aoe definitely
4134s listen to everything we're saying here
4135s and we're going to have recaps there's
4136s going to be overviews um we said it was
4138s going to be a long stream and we meant
4140s it and we still have art to get to don't
4141s worry
4142s guys um and uh yeah so at this point
4145s ammo as a vector to try and balance aoe
4148s is the first right so
4151s after those changes how does this relate
4152s to ammo well if you're uh
4155s if you remember when when there was an
4157s attempt to nerf brahma before
4160s i say an attempt because it didn't
4161s really work the attempt was reduce how
4164s much ammo it has
4165s reduce how much ammo you get from each
4167s ammo pack
4168s with the idea that that would kind of
4170s throttle how how much you could shoot it
4172s the reason it didn't work is because
4174s ammo packs dropped so often that without
4177s mutation you could basically keep up
4179s your economy of ammo without really
4181s having to care at all
4184s now that ammo packs are a little
4186s more spread they have the drop half the
4188s time
4189s you actually can run out of ammo which
4192s is is definitely quite new for us but we
4195s can actually now use ammo for balancing
4198s whereas with the previous system we
4200s really couldn't
4201s now for weapons that have large ammo
4203s pools
4204s this is actually a buff because since
4206s you have a large chamber pull you can go
4209s you can
4210s wait for the next time it will drop to
4212s come and now it will give you even more
4214s ammo than before so for those weapons
4217s don't don't really worry too much about
4218s those those are totally fine but now we
4220s can actually use this system as a way to
4223s throttle the brahma yeah and i think
4224s just as someone that has my five former
4226s brahma and i still love it it's not a
4228s matter of like we don't want to take the
4232s kuva gear that you've earned and you
4234s don't want to use it anymore so this
4235s will be a very reactive balance approach
4238s and i think just when it comes to
4239s intention and the fiction of a something
4242s like the brahma which is an aoe
4243s explosive arrow
4245s maybe it's better that i don't use it on
4246s one single enemy and then rate again on
4248s a group and just try and be more
4250s tactical so it's just about
4252s using your grenade launcher on one enemy
4254s versus clustering and being just a bit
4256s more strategic and that's it really
4259s yeah we didn't really want to make it so
4261s because a lot of the suggestions that we
4264s saw for how to handle this was like just
4266s reduce the damage
4267s until it's considerably inferior to
4269s single target but we felt that that went
4272s against the fiction of shooting a
4274s grenade launcher to someone you know
4276s like if you're shooting a rocket at
4278s someone's face it needs to be punchy it
4280s needs to
4281s kill a bunch of enemies
4283s it just needs to not be as mindless as
4285s it is right now where you have not a
4287s care in the world for you know if you're
4289s aiming at one guy or if i'm not five
4291s it's all the same to you yeah so because
4294s we're talking about emma i don't know if
4295s you're gonna go into the holster speed
4297s stuff from here oh yeah yeah okay so
4298s because there is a but definitely
4301s depending on your builds or how you
4302s manage your gameplay there is a
4303s likelihood you'll be holstering and
4305s weapon swapping more which means we're
4306s actually going to buff that
4308s right this is a long-standing change and
4310s we have a video kind of showing it
4313s essentially we're changing holstering
4315s you can see there on the right we have
4317s the new one on the left we have the old
4319s one and essentially we remove the first
4321s animation where you go and holster in
4324s and then we
4325s sped up the second animation where you
4327s holster out
4328s so now switching between weapons is
4331s considerably faster so
4333s it actually enables you a little bit
4335s more to
4336s bring a
4337s workhorse
4339s weapon as your secondary that you can
4340s use to kill around and then on your
4342s primary you can keep your
4344s aoe nuke so you nuke a few times you
4347s start running low on ammo you switch to
4350s your secondary you kill a few enemies
4352s gather ammo and then switch back and
4353s then you can do that that back and forth
4356s um which uh it really is kind of like
4360s that is the reason there is a secondary
4362s like the whole point of the secondary
4364s was so that you could like accomplish
4366s separate things um
4368s from
4369s from your primary so that you could have
4371s several tools but it never really has
4373s quite quite been like that because uh
4375s generally primaries were so
4377s so dominant that that didn't happen
4380s um
4381s i saw a question in chat about big girl
4382s swap we did a pass on all the mods that
4385s um all the mods that had um
4388s holster speed
4389s some of them we just removed so for
4390s example in invigoral swap we we just
4393s left the the damage buff untouched and
4395s we just remove the holster speed part
4397s because it makes no sense now we do have
4399s some mods that are just holster speed
4402s that we changed to now if i
4404s i'm not going to improvise what they are
4406s right now but we changed them
4408s they still exist and they do something
4409s related to holster which my memory does
4412s not allow me to recall right now that's
4413s okay i think just this we're giving you
4415s all the information basically what we've
4416s been working on behind the scenes we
4417s will have notes and we will of course be
4419s reading everything and then once this
4421s goes live we'll be we'll be in you know
4422s we'll be going over everything so this
4424s is where we are our headspace what's
4426s been implemented
4426s and then
4427s you know this is going to be a bit of a
4428s longer stream i do have some sort of
4430s state of things at the end just to give
4432s people some insight into bigger
4433s development projects uh but we still um
4435s have a few more things to go over for
4437s this and then you know
4439s yeah uh i forgot to mention i'm a
4441s mutation on the ammo part we're doing
4443s stuff about i'm introducing don't worry
4444s we'll look at it um
4446s the next thing is headshots yes
4449s so right now uh aoes can do headshots is
4453s not a very uh significant part of their
4456s damage
4457s from the tests we did internally it
4458s depends on the weapon
4460s we basically uh one of our programmers
4462s set up a thing that we could see stats
4464s live as we were playing and compare
4467s damage with hedgehog multiplier and
4468s without headshot multiplier and from the
4471s test that we did internally um basically
4474s you it was a difference between like
4476s four and ten percent damage so it's not
4478s a huge nerf to aoe weapons but basically
4480s aoe weapons can no longer deal headshots
4483s the explosion part if you hit someone
4485s with the brahma with the arrow on the
4486s head that will do a headshot but the
4489s explosion itself won't do headshots
4492s impractical gameplay is not a huge deal
4494s but it always felt kind of absurd that a
4498s flamethrower could deal a headshot it
4499s just never made sense um if it doesn't
4502s work for me in real life it shouldn't
4503s work anymore okay
4505s let me i will see your bullet shuffling
4511s so we changed that for aoe so they no
4513s longer do a headshot multiplier and then
4516s we
4517s the the other the other kind of side of
4520s like okay well if ao is too strong then
4523s maybe we need to lift the the things
4525s that are not aoe
4526s basically for any sort of precision
4528s weapons we increase the headshot
4530s multiplier to three times multiplier so
4533s now if you land a headshot with an
4535s actual weapon you actually do more
4538s damage
4538s so that way you can
4540s bring your rubiko which actually is
4542s pretty highly used
4544s and then if you deal a headshot with it
4546s now it's a triple triple the damage so
4548s basically you have um
4550s more incentive to use precision weapons
4552s there
4553s yeah so that's basically yeah the blast
4555s like you said no more headshots but
4557s single target has been increased correct
4560s yeah and that you know generally like as
4561s a mechanic headshots are
4564s generally there to reward precision so
4566s it didn't really make sense when a large
4569s explosion could deal a headshot so
4572s and also in practical in practical use
4574s it almost never happened because uh the
4577s the aoe would hit the body before you
4580s hit the head so it would almost never
4581s count as a headshot so it's it's a low
4583s occurrence thing but we are changing it
4587s and then the mods
4588s so let's you can actually come back to
4590s my gameplay now uh dean i'm gonna just
4592s show i think we're only touching two
4595s prime mods
4596s uh two promises yes so prime firestorm
4598s and uh
4600s prime fulmination yep
4602s so uh historically whenever we've done
4605s uh prime mods we generally uh increase
4608s the the stats by about two
4611s two times not as much as two but about
4614s that so for example i have examples here
4616s of continuity goes from thirty percent
4618s to fifty five percent uh flow goes to
4620s 150 to 275 so it's not exactly double
4624s it's a little less than double but close
4625s to that and then we have some that grow
4627s less that grow about only like 50 like
4630s pressure point goes from 120 to 165 or
4632s pistol gambit goes from 120 to 167.
4636s so generally that's how we do it
4638s on this once on prime firestorm and uh
4641s and fulmination
4642s we went triple the bonus
4645s which was kind of crazy uh in retrospect
4649s you know obviously it was it was uh
4652s unusual and it was also a mistake
4654s because we can now see that uh aoe is
4657s really really brutal so um we're gonna
4660s bring those down to be similar to other
4662s frames similar to other prime mods so
4664s it's uh gonna go from 24
4666s to 44
4668s when it's the the prime one so those two
4671s are are changing to be more in line and
4674s we are doing compensation for players so
4676s anyone that's modded like you know or
4678s fuse this mod to max you will be
4680s reimbursed if you are no fan of the
4682s changes
4683s we have a couple others that are also
4685s outliers that we're also changing uh
4687s tactical pump and reach but in the case
4690s of those we're changing in a different
4691s way instead of lowering the prime we're
4693s actually increasing the base one so uh
4696s just the plain old reach is going to
4698s increase to 1.5 the tactical pump is
4700s going to increase to i don't know i
4702s think it's 60 or something like that
4704s um
4705s yeah but i think one thing when it comes
4707s to you know why is the aoe meta the way
4710s it is and all of these things you know
4712s every time we do an update cycle we
4713s release the prime
4715s and i'm just going to go into this part
4716s now so you can stop me if you weren't
4717s done there but
4718s i have so there's more stuff i know but
4721s i wanted to just kind of acknowledge the
4723s reason a player might be inclined or
4725s sometimes they say they feel forced to
4727s use aoe or something so with something
4729s like
4730s a big aoe build where you just want to
4732s go in and you just want to smop the
4734s floor with everything and get out a lot
4736s of the motivation to do that is because
4738s say we release core prime you know
4740s you're playing a lith relic so you know
4742s you're going to be playing level 7
4744s content and you're way more experienced
4746s in the game so what we're doing to you
4749s know give players a different option
4750s that actually want to crack with relics
4752s but with a bit of a challenge and you'll
4753s still have the choice of choice of
4755s course but if i go to navigation now
4756s you're going to notice something we're
4758s adding
4759s so if i switch to uh steel path uh
4763s we're adding void fissure steel path
4765s mission so you can actually do your lith
4768s relics at a higher difficulty uh so and
4770s you'll also get steel essence for it and
4772s the usual steel path things so if you
4775s want to do your lith relics at the you
4777s know base level level six to eight
4779s you're still free to do so but you can
4781s now actually do harder relic cracking if
4784s you're so inclined and you'll get a
4785s little bit of a plus for it which comes
4787s in the form of steel essence and
4789s anything else that uh this entails
4791s because generally speaking if you've
4792s played war from a long time and you know
4794s those prime access cycles are coming um
4797s you might not look forward to playing
4799s that lift mission and i'm just picking
4800s on lift you did nothing wrong but you're
4802s just just accept being level 11 all you
4805s did wrong was level so this is uh
4807s another qol change that's coming with
4809s bail breaker yeah the the main intention
4812s here is like yeah like for a lot of a
4813s lot of players it makes absolute sense
4816s that if you have a bunch of mods and a
4818s bunch of weapons and we ask you to go
4821s and do a level 11 mission
4823s you're not going to have a lot of fun
4825s because it's so easy for you but you can
4827s still do it if it is fun for you right
4828s right you have the choice so you choose
4831s whatever you want to do but it's
4832s understandable that it that you're going
4834s to try to min max it to the extreme
4837s because you just want to get out of
4838s there the fast as you can we understand
4841s that so we want to give that this
4842s alternative to you where you can get
4845s some extra rewards for doing the
4847s cracking of the relics that you were
4849s going to do anyways and hopefully you'll
4851s also find the the gameplay more
4854s to your level and to your liking um when
4856s you're doing those yes and acolytes
4858s still spot it
4860s yeah so one thing just relics yeah
4862s that's it
4863s um one minor thing on the mods that i
4866s forgot to mention uh furious rates we're
4868s also changing uh the futures rate uh
4870s amalgam mod which has
4872s essentially has in it uh increase of aoe
4875s range which is such a valuable stat to
4878s have in some random fury x mod uh that
4881s one is gonna get changed uh right now i
4883s think you believe it increases now fire
4885s rate to secondary so that's what it
4887s increases now if you find you know all
4889s things aoe that's basically what we're
4891s doing for sure
4893s for the veil breaker updates and then
4894s there's some other potential things
4895s we're going to do
4897s one of them is potentially adjust the
4900s self-stagger so the first one would be
4903s right now you put on prime shirt footed
4904s you're good to go
4906s yeah so to be clear that's where we end
4908s with the changes we're done and i'm sure
4911s i think none of them are too extreme i
4913s think all of them are like on their own
4915s they probably wouldn't move the needle
4917s enough we're hoping that coming at this
4919s from several angles a little bit at a
4922s time makes it so it's not too painful
4923s but it also actually makes a difference
4926s but we also tried a few other things
4928s that we're gonna keep on our back pocket
4929s for now we're gonna save for a part two
4932s uh if it's needed if it's needed because
4934s we wanna see how this one's pan out
4936s first
4937s so i won't go into a lot of detail about
4939s this once because but i do want you to
4941s be aware that you know these are things
4943s that might come that these are the
4944s things that we try because i already saw
4946s a couple in chat where where they were
4948s asking like why didn't you do this well
4950s so
4951s i'll go over them kind of kind of fast
4954s uh one is uh the fiction of aoe
4957s generally has been you know if you
4958s explode something in your face you'd get
4961s some sort of consequence for it um
4963s initially it was the damage then we
4965s changed that to the stagger
4967s and right now essentially that that
4969s stagger that knockdown
4971s gets removed with a mod that you can get
4973s on day 400 which is prime sure footed
4976s so we did experiment with changing that
4978s one to either work like cautious shot
4980s where it just downgrades the thing or
4982s simply only work on enemy on enemy cc
4986s we're not gonna release that right now
4988s but it definitely is something that we
4989s are considering uh if you saw that
4991s initial video of the running around
4993s shooting at your feet as you run around
4996s because you can still do that you cannot
4998s do it for as long because you run out of
4999s ammo but you can still do that and it's
5002s it is kind of weird
5003s but anyways uh
5005s he's going yeah
5006s the other thing is line of sight uh
5008s right now uh aoes can hit enemies
5011s through any sort of line of sight not
5013s happening in game yet these are things
5015s we might do after we evaluate just to be
5017s clear we want you to know where we are
5018s that's the whole point of telling you
5020s so the one we were trying with that is
5022s essentially to make a line of sight
5024s check that was a little more forgiving
5026s so it has an initial area where it
5028s doesn't check line of sight so if you
5030s explode something right next to someone
5032s they would still get destroyed so
5034s basically kind of rewarding you aiming
5036s in the general direction of the enemy
5039s but if they were further than a certain
5040s distance we would check los so that is
5043s something that would work for something
5045s similar to that other video where we're
5046s like shooting at the floor right in
5048s front of us and
5049s enemies were killing on the we're dying
5051s on the other side of the wall things
5052s like that would be permitted like that
5055s uh something that a lot of games do to
5057s kind of combat this this sort of thing
5059s is a drop by a system which is basically
5062s to say if i kill enemies with an aoe the
5065s ammo that drops is not for that weapon
5067s is for a different weapon so it kind of
5070s forces
5071s the the ammo to go dry and it forces you
5074s to go into your melee because now when
5076s you kill with your melee you get ammo
5077s for your aoe
5078s a bunch of games do this it is pretty
5080s effective we don't want to do it right
5082s now
5083s again we we're hoping that this initial
5085s changes that we did will be
5087s uh strong enough
5089s um
5090s and the fi well the final one doesn't
5092s even make sense to explain because i
5093s didn't explain how mutation is going to
5095s work but stuff without me yeah so the
5097s first three sort of are the the state of
5100s weapon balance and bail breaker and
5101s what's coming so not only do we have the
5104s ammo simplification the uh headshot
5107s reduction for aoe or elimination for aoe
5109s but buffs for single targets and then
5111s prime firestorm is essentially
5114s being changed to still prime mod trends
5117s but not the three times which is an
5119s outlier and like we said we know that
5120s was a mistake but that is the overview
5122s in the context of aoe but we have a
5124s slide here that we're blocking but if
5126s you wanted to take a screenshot this
5127s could be the uh version of it that you
5130s take and then i just quickly want to go
5132s to wukong and just to talk about how as
5134s a warframe wukong
5136s takes everything we just talked about
5138s with aoe and our philosophy which is
5140s automation
5142s is it dominant or is it disrupting other
5144s players and is a perfect case study and
5146s all that and we are going to be making
5147s some tweaks to wukong i think we'll just
5149s roll my video of me playing on the live
5151s build
5152s just so you can take a quick look at
5154s what
5155s you can currently do with wukong which
5157s is
5158s actually something you can't do as a
5160s player so this is where it all comes in
5162s so right now i have my wukong out i have
5165s he has the kuva brahma my celestial twin
5168s is out there
5169s and he doesn't need ammo
5170s so he can do things that i simply cannot
5173s do which is he can use the kuva brahma
5177s like well i guess i could have i used an
5179s ammo restore but just practically
5181s speaking he's just going for it ammo not
5185s a care in the world uh and he's uh
5188s automating the game for me which you
5190s know you should celestial twin is meant
5191s to be your second in command he does a
5193s lot of damage this is okay but we're
5195s making changes yeah so the we're mostly
5198s focusing on that first ability uh which
5201s as you can see here is pretty powerful
5203s uh the main change so
5206s first of all we're having this damage so
5207s right now he copies exactly the damage
5210s that you would do which in retrospect
5212s it's it's always been too high so we cut
5215s in half but we also increase the damage
5217s if you mark a target which some people
5219s might not even know you could do because
5220s why bother but you can mark targets with
5222s wukong's
5223s celestial twin if you mark a target then
5226s the the
5227s the cool clone who will focus on that
5229s enemy and will deal extra damage now he
5232s deals even more damage to that one enemy
5234s so
5234s basically it's rewarding an active uh
5237s playstyle where you're actually telling
5239s him what to do
5241s generally you only want to do that for
5242s like if you see um if you see an exymos
5245s or if you get an acolyte things like
5247s that is where you want to use it
5249s the other change we did is that he now
5251s actually uses your ammo so that means
5254s you can no longer stand there and just
5256s watch him do the thing
5257s testers actually try this and basically
5259s you can feed him ammo so you can be
5262s around killing enemies
5265s with your melee get some ammo for your
5266s clone and you can keep feeding him so he
5268s can still work but again you have to
5271s play it's it's all about making it so
5273s it's not all automated um
5276s and the last change is that he now
5278s actually is affected by by the explosion
5281s so he now will get staggered he will get
5283s all that now in practice most players
5286s that uh that have wukon will also
5289s come with prime sure footage so
5291s he inherits your loadout in that respect
5293s so so that last change is almost like a
5295s a non-change if you're already putting
5297s firearm pressure but there if that's
5299s that's uh but we are buffing his four
5301s yeah from reading a lot of like you know
5303s i was reading a lot of like posts and
5305s stuff of what people expected to change
5306s with wukong after i mentioned in in
5308s twitter that i was going to change them
5310s uh a lot of people expected nerves to
5312s his one which i just told you what they
5314s are nervous to do and that's where i'm
5317s gonna subvert expectations wow

5360s he's fourth uh he's getting a buff
5362s essentially he's getting a little more
5364s base damage on it we're not fully
5366s restoring but adding a little bit of the
5369s range growth with the combo
5371s is not as huge as it was before but it
5373s still gives you i think up to like 3.5
5376s meters something like that so more than
5377s a prime stretch
5379s uh and we're also adding at the end of
5381s his uh forward combo
5383s uh where he does like a stump on the
5385s floor uh he'll do a little vortex to
5387s pull enemies to you kind of customize
5389s the theme of the stream
5395s if you didn't like vortexes before you
5398s may like them now
5400s yeah so that's those are uh those are
5402s the changes

5726s war world where you will find yourself

5730s to have a quest and this is when we're
5731s going to get into like some devs you
5733s know dev showcase stuff so you never
5734s know what's going to happen and it is
5736s the dev bill but there will be a quest
5737s available in your codex failbreaker will
5739s be there for you and once you complete
5742s it your world state is gonna change a
5744s little bit so the new war has happened
5745s the tenno has resolved what they've
5747s resolved and now it's time to push
5749s things forward with bailbreaker and
5751s after you finish the bailbreaker quest a
5752s couple things are gonna change for you
5754s uh first is you may have a new
5757s visitor
5758s uh if you will
5760s like a roommate a roommate if you will
5762s in your uh actual drifters camp so in
5766s this setting uh dean i'm just gonna have
5768s you pop away for a second maybe meg can
5770s fill the air time for a second or two
5771s while i get this set up i love filling
5773s air time
5774s as part of bail breaker as well that
5776s when you're doing the quest again reb
5777s mentioned at the beginning it is a
5778s smaller quest i'm just kind of
5780s continuing a little bit of the new war
5782s and call story but you're going to get a
5784s little um conversation with daughter she
5786s might have a part to play
5789s indeed so if you come back to my uh game
5792s play here dean um
5794s if you've decorated your drifters area
5798s you might need to move some stuff around
5799s this is a friendly warning that um there
5802s are some uh
5804s there might be some people moving and
5806s and this is going to lead to um the
5808s kickoff of the new systems we're adding
5811s so the first system pertains
5812s specifically to this character you see
5814s here you may know him as call and he's
5817s going to have uh he has a purpose and he
5820s has a goal after the new war and
5822s everything that happened so you'll be
5824s experiencing a once a week narrative
5826s from his perspective of what he wants to
5828s do and you'll be sort of cycling through
5830s that once a week there will be something
5831s for you to play we're going to rotate
5832s through i think we're starting with
5833s three um so three weeks you'll be going
5836s through and every time you play one
5838s perhaps he's going to gain a following
5840s or his mission is going to you know push
5842s further so this area that you see here
5844s will grow you'll meet some people you
5847s may wonder who chipper is this is a
5848s never before seen person that might have
5851s aligned goals
5852s and call is here call is waiting and of
5855s course like any you know any fun system
5858s we have
5860s call only get one uniform yeah call is
5863s here to uh
5864s you know you can you can do some things
5866s to make your call look the way he would
5868s uh and then you can go out and play your
5870s your call weekly mission uh and then you
5873s know very important part of anyone
5875s that's undergone extreme trauma uh in
5878s terms of bringing it back with style is
5880s eye patches
5882s so we have some um some concepts as well
5884s that we're going to show here that uh
5886s undertake what uh just the different
5888s level of customizations that call will
5889s have so i think we have a
5891s a uh an eyepatch asset dean perhaps
5895s did we lose dean to the long dev stream
5900s all right
5901s but yeah so of course if you want to
5903s get your metal gear solid kicks in we
5906s have the perfect firm request from
5908s somebody that's interesting
5914s mystery request for the
5916s you know coolest eye patches you can
5917s have but yeah you can really um make
5919s your call your own and he has a purpose
5921s a mission and that'll all be unveiled in
5923s unveiled oh god

5928s so yes so we'll take a small clip of a
5930s dev build um gameplay just to give
5932s people a look into what call might be
5934s going through so this is dev build uh
5937s whips but call has found himself
5939s somewhere that you might recognize he
5941s managed to get a jet pack and he must
5942s free his uh his brother here so this um
5946s whole
5947s uh fiction and everywhere you're gonna
5948s go with call is going to involve
5951s what is he going to do against the
5952s sentience and what can he as one grineer
5954s alone do well as he rescues his brothers
5957s he'll find that he has the power to
5960s you know command them and get them to do
5961s different things carrie your art
5964s sensibilities are going to tingle
5965s because i'm actually showing something
5966s placeholder here but there's secrets and
5968s little things that you're going to want
5969s to uncover to push that call weekly
5972s mission forward so you can earn things
5974s to shop in you know maybe this new
5976s character back over here on the gameplay
5978s side um
5980s this character on my screen here dean uh
5982s might have some things for you to grab
5984s uh week over week uh depending on how
5986s far you advance every time you do a call
5988s weekly you'll push the call garrison
5990s forward and this is where stein acts
5992s will be for the free path once we're
5994s done with his campaign and once we're
5996s done um you know you you know don't get
5999s it for free for those two weeks anymore
6000s steinax will be here we'll have
6002s cosmetics for call in here and we're
6004s going to have a couple other things that
6005s we're going to talk about because
6006s of course uh once you've uh actually you
6009s can see my ship there it doesn't really
6011s fit but it does not but it looks cute
6014s once you've once call has you know his
6017s veil breaking quest resolved
6019s uh he found some intel and he might know
6022s something that you don't from a
6023s different perspective and it's for that
6025s reason that um
6027s we're going to introduce archon hunts
6029s which is the warframe gameplay for vale
6031s breaker the warframe system um
6034s which essentially once you've got the
6037s quest complete which is a shorter quest
6038s for a veil breaker you're going to
6040s unlock something called archon hunts and
6042s these are a weekly system for players
6044s that every week you're going to get the
6046s intel on a new archon that has a new you
6049s know tweaked look for the post new war
6052s world and there's going to be new lore
6054s and new stakes for you as a player to go
6056s through these so you'll hear from some
6058s characters maybe i have a voice
6059s recording session monday who's to say uh
6062s how much is there and then you're going
6064s to do a mission in this section of
6067s gameplay content that will always amount
6070s to a showdown with an rcon and these are
6073s our
6074s version of content that we really want
6076s you to think about what loadout you're
6077s going to bring and how you're going to
6078s play it in a co-op setting so we have
6080s some restrictions just to change it up
6082s these are weekly so if you can't do it
6083s the first day you have all week to try
6085s and you know refine your build whatever
6087s troubles you're having maybe get a squad
6089s to help you but you'll get bonuses for
6092s certain gear and then there's also
6093s restrictions where respawns you can't
6095s self-revive really co-op reviving is the
6098s only way to stay alive so if you get
6100s down you better hope you're sticking
6101s with your squad so that you can all stay
6103s together advance together through the
6105s mission and then consumables uh similar
6107s to steel path they have a cooldown so
6110s same idea as steel path
6111s these are weekly
6113s and then they end with that fight
6115s against the given archon of the week you
6117s can absolutely do them solo it doesn't
6119s have to be co-op but as with all things
6121s in our game totally possible so solo but
6125s they are tough
6126s and they are meant to be tough missions
6128s so uh
6129s yeah well okay so if you
6132s if you played when you were you know by
6134s the time you get to
6135s fight arkham's with your warframe yeah
6138s maybe it was a little anticlimactic
6140s there's a new new flow new mechanics for
6142s the final boss fight uh the archon hunt
6144s itself so you'll be going in you'll have
6146s to discover how to get through where
6148s they are
6149s shake them out there's new mechanics
6150s there um it's not uh
6152s just the drifter versus our con newer
6155s stuff it is different it has a twist we
6157s don't do spoilers but it will be
6159s different
6160s but it is meant to be it is meant to be
6163s more on the punishing side it's not you
6165s know it's mega better yeah
6168s we want to see what we can do with
6169s challenge that's pretty much it it's a
6171s really that word will trigger a lot of
6172s different reactions but we want to try
6174s different things and that's what bail
6176s breaker is about so these boss fights at
6177s the end uh you'll have to take a look at
6180s them and see for yourself where they go
6181s and every week a new one will appear for
6182s you and you're going to get something
6184s new
6185s you'll probably see on my screen
6187s something called the azure archon shard
6190s which is a new system we're adding for
6193s uh upgrades for players so every week if
6195s you do your uh archon hunt you will earn
6199s the corresponding archon shard which
6201s when you're done the quest you'll have
6203s the necessary
6205s equipment to use it which means that
6207s your helmet is getting more use and
6209s archon shards as a system are an upgrade
6212s system for your a given warframe so you
6215s can use your azure shard or if you're
6216s lucky you have a 20 chance to get a tau
6218s forged one
6219s uh and your arkhan shards will be
6222s installed in a given warframe you have
6225s five shard slots which you can put your
6227s shards in so for me um i have my protea
6230s here who i love dearly and pablo if you
6232s want to talk a bit more about this
6233s system
6235s yeah essentially it's a way to kind of
6238s focus on like the the
6240s frames that you really want to buff even
6243s more the ones you want to take to the
6244s very extreme basically you can select
6246s from three different crystals and they
6249s also they have the the tau forged
6250s versions which are a little stronger
6252s um so
6254s you can select them and then from that
6256s will give you a selection between
6257s different buffs that you can get from
6259s those gems
6261s so in this case you can increase the
6262s health of your protea you can give them
6264s some shield as you can see the tower
6266s forge gives it a little a little extra
6268s bonus some more energy essentially you
6271s can
6271s kind of oomph your
6274s your preferred frames to get them uh and
6276s the
6277s also the the gems if you well the shards
6280s if you decide to they can be um
6283s they can be moved so you're not like
6284s fully committed you can take them out
6286s using
6287s um basically hellmann's resources yeah
6290s and just to be clear these are permanent
6292s stat upgrades that your given warframe
6294s would have so if i love my protea and i
6296s did my weekly arc on hunts i can now
6299s permanently increase a specific stat
6301s depending on which chart i have so as
6303s you fight
6304s amar you'll get the crimson shards from
6306s ammar you'll get the amber shards from
6308s nera and you'll get the azure shards
6310s from boreal and these are permanent
6312s stats
6313s that you can
6315s apply to a given warframe yeah and
6318s generally speaking the the red one is
6320s offensive stuff uh
6322s or attack stuff
6324s uh then the yellow is utility and then
6327s the blue is well what you're seeing here
6329s which is more on the defensive uh
6332s defensive side of things so you have a
6334s limit of five archon uh shard slots per
6337s frame um and you can
6339s put them in so you'll be earning these
6340s at the rate of one a week and you'll be
6342s able to kind of decide which frame you
6343s really want to invest in and they they
6345s well do they stack so if i had five blue
6348s shards or azure shards in this case i
6350s could put five all for armor yeah so
6353s spoiling a little bit from the yellow
6355s for example the yellow you can get um
6357s extra bonus from energy pickups so if
6361s you put five of those you can almost
6363s replace uh energize with that so you
6366s basically could kind of free you up your
6367s your
6369s your arcane slot uh and basically you
6371s can kind of pick and choose which frame
6373s you want to go with the ones that are
6375s attack based which ones would you want
6376s to go utility which ones you prefer the
6379s fence
6380s um
6381s yeah yeah removing a star shard doesn't
6383s destroy it so say in the case of a frame
6385s that doesn't have a prime if you've put
6386s all these shards in that frame and the
6388s prime comes out you'll be able to get it
6390s back there will be a little bit of
6391s friction right now it's using a helmet
6393s resource so that's still under review
6395s for what we're going to do there but we
6396s know that um
6397s people who have invested in frames may
6399s want to change their mind so we are
6401s going to
6402s let you move those around yep
6404s uh and and the only other note is uh
6407s well i don't know if i say it's but in
6409s caster we will stuck

6413s available it's not just through the uh
6415s weekly archon hunts where you're going
6417s to be doing that final boss fight with
6419s an rcon to take their shard but colin
6421s might have got one or two things up his
6422s sleeve so we're gonna you can kind of
6423s engage with both systems to get yourself
6426s those particular upgrades yeah so for
6429s veil breaker we have steinax we have
6431s call with his veil breaking weeklies we
6433s have uh the arkhan hunts which are
6436s predicated by playing through the veil
6438s breaker kickoff and then you'll be kind
6440s of on your way to explore all the
6442s quality of life changes we have tons of
6443s new skins we have tons
6446s like more qol than i think we even
6447s covered on this stream and we're already
6449s running you know what else do we have
6451s there oh yeah yeah so we talked about
6453s all of that augmented buffs are coming
6454s as well
6456s yeah we're doing part two we're doing l
6458s to r i believe stopping at rhino looking
6460s at a few we'll do obviously uh uh you
6462s know a part three but we wanted to look
6464s at a few you talked about armor changes
6466s in terms of uh stripping from
6469s enemies with abilities so that's good
6471s artists my my friendly artists who came
6474s here you can talk about last gasp
6476s because i see that we forgot to talk
6477s about that yeah so last guess i'll just

6487s um basically uh it's gonna instead of
6489s the meter starting at 50 it's going to
6491s start at zero percent but there's going
6493s to be no initial drain instead the
6495s initial drain will start after a few
6496s seconds and then actually killing xmas
6498s units is going to refill that meter
6501s completely and killing enemies is going
6502s to fill a meter by a third each time
6505s yeah it feels fast like it fills out the
6508s the meter faster and you don't have that
6510s initial like you know before it started
6512s half and immediately started to drain so
6514s you almost felt like you were like it
6517s you felt like you were falling behind
6518s immediately this gives you a little bit
6521s of time to like come up uh start killing
6523s and then
6524s come back i feel it's it is easier to
6527s come back with it and also we did a lot
6529s of changes to the presentation it looks
6531s much nicer it has less um
6534s less pops and stuff in there yeah got a
6536s little bit of an animation buff i think
6537s we got everything well

6540s about art because i have sort of like a
6542s wrap-up state of ongoing things because
6544s as i'm sure chad has noticed we are a
6547s different group up here now and
6548s obviously at 10 economy now some team
6550s changes so all of us have been working
6552s on warframe for at least ten years or
6554s nine to ten years i think absolutely so
6556s we we all we yeah we're all relatively

6560s never seen the light of day what do you
6561s really have yeah yeah what's gonna

6565s bring it back well we we have a lot of
6567s awesome people on the team so that
6568s should be able to see the light of day
6570s someday yeah and if you i don't even
6571s know what you would google to see that
6572s but it was devstream seven no i don't
6574s even know what dev stream you showed it
6575s on but you know it was a got an art
6576s panel and jeff has incessantly brought
6578s that up over years is ever cool and now

6589s um we are quite our our team has uh at
6591s least uh the character team has grown in
6593s the past few months uh definitely so

6603s that stuff so even on the on aesthetics

6624s been talking about uh cross play trials
6627s and these things and i just kind of
6628s wanted to get now that we have a new
6630s team structure and you know we're
6632s working with a really experienced
6633s warframe team i just kind of wanted to
6635s give the latest news on everything that
6637s you might have been waiting for word on
6639s year over year just from my current
6641s point of view so pablo's looking at me
6642s was like what the hell are you going to
6644s say about raids and trials but it's my
6646s turn to surprise you i think pablo
6648s himself
6650s no but i wanted to talk about cosplay
6652s cross save raids trials just general
6654s talking
6655s points for things that if you've been
6657s with the warframe community for a long
6658s time usually steve would say something
6660s about these things and now i'm going to
6662s i'm going to give you where things are
6664s and what we're going to do
6665s first of all i'm going to talk about
6666s raids and trials this is something that
6669s i
6670s you know played back in the day megan
6672s and i the team and we i think earlier in
6675s the year we talked about wanting to
6676s bring them back but we're not going to
6678s talk about this or have anything to
6679s share until our veil breaker objectives
6682s are complete and our duvery paradox
6683s content is complete so don't expect to
6686s hear about those for a little bit we
6687s still care about them deeply and we
6689s think that they are an interesting thing
6690s to try and explore but there's nothing
6692s to share about it
6694s until we bring you news basically so
6696s i'd rather be honest about that and we
6698s have a we have a lot of stuff to do so i
6700s don't want it to be a
6702s you know a continuous thing that you
6703s might expect to hear about on the next
6705s dev stream because you won't
6706s yeah we discuss them a little bit we
6708s took a look at some of the existing
6710s stuff and just got to
6712s get uh some bearings about like okay
6714s where is this what what could we
6716s actually do and essentially
6719s the the answer is
6720s we cannot
6722s look at this until next year because
6724s this year we just have too much already
6725s so that's that's but yeah
6728s there maybe is something we could talk
6730s about this year and that's cross-play so
6731s that is an engineering feat that we have
6733s wanted to you know all these systems
6735s we're adding it'd be nice if you had a
6736s bigger pool of players to play with
6738s across all platforms and we are like we
6740s said at tennocon in the testing phase of
6742s kicking off something for cross play
6744s which we will announce the full
6745s community details of uh pretty soon so
6748s that you know what to expect because
6749s this is very much a test the tech and
6752s we've got to test it live so we'll have
6754s extremely organized tests for cross play
6756s uh like we mentioned at tennocon like i
6759s said again we are getting close and once
6762s crossplay is in a spot where we feel
6763s like we can turn it on uh cross save
6766s work will follow so that's the order of
6768s operations there uh it is one of the big
6770s actually i would say it's the biggest
6771s priority for the bulk of the team in
6775s terms of tech for warframe right now so
6776s where steve would usually tell you
6778s something about deferred rent oh all of
6779s the updates with their engine and
6780s deferred rendering and what does that
6781s mean if you can't run deferred that'll
6783s come in future dev streams but from a
6785s tech point of view it's really the
6786s biggest priority and um we're really
6788s hoping to we want to get it right so
6790s yeah we don't want you to lose your
6792s accounts in the metaverse because oh my
6795s goodness
6796s zuckerberg to steal your account all
6798s right we have to be really careful so
6800s you know
6801s if would it really be like a creative
6802s director thing if i don't say something
6803s that could get us in trouble

6841s talking point on the test cluster when
6844s covid started we were all at home we're
6846s like how are we gonna work with this and
6848s we kicked off the
6849s semi-public test cluster which uh was
6852s great and it worked well it was a lot
6854s more work than we expected it was still
6856s good it got good results and then we
6857s started simul shipping and if you're
6859s tracking on a calendar when the public
6861s test stuff started to wind down and when
6864s we started doing coordinated releases
6866s across all platforms there's a very
6868s clear correlation between when one ended
6870s and one began
6871s and for that reason i'm still looking
6873s into a way to try and use it but that
6875s doesn't override the very meticulous
6877s planning we have to do with our builds
6878s to have a simultaneous release for all
6880s players uh i don't want this to sound
6882s like an excuse it's not it's literally a
6884s logistics problem and a lot of players
6886s are probably going to wonder like why
6887s aren't you using the
6888s public test cluster for these aoe
6890s changes and stuff and it's a logistic
6892s issue to have any updates this year we
6894s have to decide how we can bring this
6896s back in with our new methodology for
6898s actually releasing and deploying builds
6899s across all platforms so
6901s looking into it trying to plan
6904s if things were perfect we could do it
6905s every time but the reality is
6908s it's very now that i'm sitting in this
6910s side of the chair it's very hard but
6912s because this is something that we kicked
6914s off as a team
6915s during covid and we liked it it's still
6918s something that we want to do but we also
6919s know that there are a million reasons
6921s now why we can't yeah the needs of
6924s simultaneous ship across
6926s all the different
6928s consoles on the different platforms and
6930s the needs of the test cluster go like
6932s kind of directly against each other um
6935s and
6936s they're what lives on top of
6939s simultaneous ship is crossplay and
6941s crossing right yes if you don't have
6942s something to ship this cosplay and
6944s crosstalk do not work so we need to keep
6947s doing that
6948s so that gets us into this problem we
6951s really for this one as you saw from the
6953s gigantic list of changes we since it
6956s wasn't like just one change it was a
6958s whole bunch of things we would have
6959s loved to be able to do a test cluster uh
6962s but
6963s that would have just meant that then
6964s simultaneously yeah there's no explainer
6967s we accrue all of these things when we
6968s try new things all the time and it's
6970s like what about this what about that and
6971s then you start to realize like well in
6972s order to get anything done we need to
6974s make some choices and as your new
6976s creative director i'm going to try and
6978s make the best choices for the community
6980s in the game sometimes you might not
6982s agree with me i hope for the most time
6983s you can at least understand my reasoning
6985s and i'll be happy but in this case for
6987s cross-play and cross-safe stuff to
6988s happen there that simultaneous ship had
6990s to happen and those are the types of
6992s decisions that push the entire community
6994s forward uh and all things considered we
6997s do hotfix a lot and after these changes
7000s that we outlined in the stream are in
7001s your hands we will continue to do just
7004s that uh we're going to be evaluating
7006s closely we have a lot of stats and data
7008s and of course player feedback that's
7009s going to come into the equation so
7011s that's where we're going to be with veil
7012s breaker and it is a huge update it has
7014s everything we've shown today
7016s uh and those uh archon fights will be
7018s waiting for you with your you know maybe
7020s your your best gear your worst gear
7022s whatever you want to throw at it you can
7024s figure it out you have a week to do it
7025s every week before it
7026s clicks over to the next hunt so yeah

7101s art team gets to talk oh boy exactly

7110s but yeah actually honestly we have you
7112s know being able to add so many
7114s more fresh new faces into our team we're
7117s able to look at the long-term schedule

7119s uh i think we feel confident hitting
7121s those marks of
7123s have all these deluxes coming in and the
7125s void shelves are really taking a life of
7126s their own and so it's really refreshing

7131s a team to be able to support that so uh
