893s | and players all have steinx for free and |
896s | it may be obvious but it kind of wasn't |
897s | to me but steinx was also the most used |
899s | frame in The archon Shard system so for |
902s | people that have all their arsenals a |
903s | lot of people chose to put their first |
905s | archon shard in steinx despite just |
908s | getting him so that was super cool that |
910s | they used an upgrade so it was the most |
912s | interesting game generally whenever we |
913s | release a frame they are the most used |
915s | but like barely but he's like uh because |
919s | he gave him for free right it's like |
920s | it's so obvious like what we're saying |
922s | may sound obvious but when you look at |
923s | the stats update over update like it's |
926s | just great to see that people logged in |
927s | to get the 50 like it's just really |

930s | um felt shocking to see Wukong down to |

941s | put some Nerfs and some Buffs in with |
942s | Wukong and right now like the worst |

955s | steinx because obviously he's the most |
957s | used studwise Wukong is still heads and |
960s | shoulders the most used frame by quite a |
962s | margin but at least anecdotally the the |
967s | more like just sit there and let your |
969s | clone play for you gameplay has gone |

976s | right now steinx has in like leveled off |
978s | it's very hard to really rely on stats |
981s | for the first few weeks so for most |

986s | judging sort of like the consequences of |

990s | like far off from being able to like |
993s | there's no realize there's no conclusive |

998s | breaker wasn't out our last Upstream |

1012s | year so you know the new war launched |
1014s | and then in uh 2022 we gave you the |
1016s | Echoes of War as like a follow-up update |
1019s | and we did the same thing with angels of |
1020s | the zareman where we released angels of |
1021s | the zaroman and then we did Echoes of |
1023s | the zaroman and we're going to do the |
1024s | same thing with Veil breaker where we do |
1026s | an Echoes update which is sort of a |
1028s | version of things that either are really |
1031s | feedback driven that we just needed a |
1032s | more time a bit more time on so we are |
1035s | going to do an Echoes of veil breaker |
1036s | update that is going to touch a few |
1038s | things uh actually including we are |
1041s | going to you know if everything goes |
1043s | according to plan you'll finally see the |
1045s | uh thing we showed years ago with venkra |
1049s | and Sprague |
1050s | that's a wildlife yes is that really |
1054s | that but is it really that this is this |
1057s | was a proof of concept that we're |
1058s | reworking them so we are planning on |
1060s | bringing them into Veil breaker one or |
1062s | Echoes a veil breaker for call so |
1065s | they'll have a role to play there |
1067s | um for the call missions so you can look |
1070s | forward to that within the roster of |
1072s | call weeklies within the existing ones |
1073s | there'll be an added thing to do and you |
1076s | know we'll talk more about that so and |
1077s | their weapons will be skins so if you |
1080s | want to Bonk with that hammer you will |
1082s | be free to do so and I'm sure there will |
1084s | be many deserves can we do bonking |
1086s | sounds yeah oh yeah okay would you do a |
1088s | custom zone for a skin usually we don't |
1090s | because usually we don't do custom |
1091s | sounds but if it words that we yeah we |
1094s | could yeah things on stream because then |
1096s | you're just gonna be I won't commit to |
1098s | bonking sounds quite yet but the season |

1103s | right so you can so in that because we |
1105s | are planning on bringing uh them into |
1106s | the fold for call because they are |
1108s | grineer and there's there's maybe a |
1110s | story to be told there about what's |
1111s | going on and then we are basically with |
1115s | balebreaker we released the archon Hunts |
1117s | we released failbreaking and then we did |
1118s | a whole bunch of balance and qol changes |
1120s | and of those which ones still kind of |
1122s | have a long tail so there's basically |
1124s | two |
1125s | threads that are unresolved and that we |
1128s | can talk about today one is AOE |
1130s | rewinding just a tiny bit more how dare |
1132s | you sorry |
1134s | I just like in terms of the the content |
1137s | for Cal it was kind of adventurous for |
1140s | us because it was not something that we |
1142s | usually do you know the single player |
1144s | more story based kind of missions and |
1147s | stuff uh so we're still you know we're |
1149s | still kind of feeling our way around it |
1152s | and it's not |
1154s | so to the stories that we have right now |
1156s | expect some additions such as yeah those |
1159s | are going to be within the the existing |
1161s | weeklies and then we're going to be |
1163s | reviewing more because I think it's fun |
1165s | to try and play and do these new things |
1167s | but we know that we have duviri on the |
1169s | horizon which we really need to focus on |
1171s | so we're not going to be adding like a |
1173s | new chapter to call anytime soon we're |
1175s | going to be expanding the existing ones |
1177s | with more side content in them and |
1179s | improvements to the challenges you know |
1181s | some cumulative thoughts there yeah uh |
1184s | do we commit to that one I mean we |
1187s | already did it so we already coded it as |
1189s | well yeah yeah so for a lot of the |
1190s | changes the challenges in cow we're |
1193s | going to make them cumulative so for |
1195s | example if it's like the find the |
1197s | medallions or whatever or find the |
1199s | pieces of the K drive or whatever you |
1201s | can find three in the first mission and |
1203s | that will get saved and then when you |
1205s | get two on the the next mission that |
1207s | will complete so you don't have to find |
1208s | them in the same in the same one yeah |
1211s | we're still deciding which ones work |
1212s | like that and which ones do require need |
1214s | to do them in the same one example is |
1216s | for example the password one that then |
1218s | you unlock a box since the challenge |
1219s | itself is to unlock the box that one |
1221s | might stay still within one Mission but |
1224s | you know we're still revising that sort |
1226s | of stuff yep exactly all right and as I |
1229s | was saying no if I might go back I don't |
1233s | even remember all right I think I was no |
1235s | I was talking about AOE and actually |
1236s | something that the archon Hunts |
1239s | introduced as just a general Hot Topic |
1241s | so with AOE we're still looking at it uh |
1244s | and we're not going to have a huge |
1245s | solution anytime soon I think last step |
1247s | stream we said all right here's what |
1248s | we're going to do and here's what we |
1250s | might do if what we do isn't enough and |
1252s | what we did of course is ammo and then |
1254s | we also buffed the whole head shots all |
1256s | that stuff and when I think when you |
1259s | mentioned that yeah and then we'll like |
1261s | maybe self CC will come back that was |
1263s | like the one thing players don't yeah |
1265s | but then there was self-damage and |
1267s | there's still there's still a path we |
1269s | are experimenting with internally on |
1271s | bringing self-damage back internally |
1273s | we're looking at it and I think that's |
1275s | probably |
1277s | the most we're looking in for AOE right |
1280s | now yeah so basically basically it's too |
1282s | early to tell really the effects of this |
1284s | yeah just again stats are super volatile |
1288s | like if I check stats this week versus |
1290s | last week they're actually quite |
1291s | different so it's going to take a little |
1293s | bit for it to settle down and for us to |
1295s | actually be able to rely on that we are |
1296s | not committing to anything on this |
1298s | stream we're telling you what we're |
1299s | looking at so that when we have a bigger |
1301s | conversation about it you kind of have |
1303s | context because ultimately |
1305s | we don't want to come out and make a |
1306s | change without you at least seeing what |
1308s | we were discussing and why and the |
1309s | answer just comes down to the Three core |
1311s | things you've mentioned about is it |
1312s | disrupting other people's play is it |
1314s | automated or is it dominant and there's |
1316s | ways to tweak levers there and look at |
1318s | those but we don't have a solution yet |
1319s | but we're still looking at it yeah one |
1322s | of the main things that came from |
1323s | feedback from the last stream is when we |
1325s | were talking about other things that we |
1327s | were looking at including the making |
1330s | um |
1331s | primed sure-footed not applied to self |
1334s | to self-damage that one was immediately |
1337s | everyone hated it with the thought that |
1340s | basically a lot of people really dislike |
1343s | the self CC when you do the AOE in fact |
1346s | we saw several comments that were like |
1348s | they prefer the self-damage compared to |
1350s | the soft CC so I've got us thinking |
1352s | because the problem right now is like |
1354s | you can ignore this LCC once you reach |
1357s | day 400. so if the sub cc is really that |
1361s | bad then probably should change it in |
1363s | general versus just say leave it for |
1365s | players below Day 400 and then keep it |
1368s | firm up now we know uh self-damaged as |
1371s | it existed had a lot of problems so |
1372s | we're trying a new version uh and again |
1375s | this is just something we're trusting in |
1377s | Dev might never make it to the live |
1379s | build it might make it reliable we don't |
1381s | know but uh basically what we're trying |
1383s | is we're removing the self CC we're |
1385s | changing the self-damage to be percent |
1387s | base so basically you cannot one shot |
1389s | yourself if you shoot yourself at your |
1392s | feet you take 75 percent of your health |
1395s | if you shoot 10 meters away you take 25 |
1399s | or something like that |
1401s | um you know and this also accounts for |
1403s | multi for multi-shot if you shoot a |
1405s | friendly that's close to you the damage |
1407s | is reduced so if someone walks in front |
1409s | of you we got a lot of extra stuff that |
1411s | we're doing yeah it's not the same as |
1413s | just what it was it's not like you'll go |
1414s | into an archon Mission with the launcher |
1416s | and with the with the rules in our con |
1418s | mission that it's like death is |
1420s | guaranteed you're not you're not going |
1421s | to kill yourself in an archon hunt |
1422s | you're just going to wound yourself and |
1424s | they're yeah so the main objective is |
1427s | that it should feel scary if you blow a |
1431s | missile in front of your own face that's |
1433s | that's it like you should really feel |
1435s | like there's like you did bad you should |
1437s | no Friendly Fire and you can't |
1439s | completely One-Shot yourself percent |
1441s | based percent based where the percent is |
1443s | not 100. and and the case on the range |
1446s | of the of the explosion and the range |
1449s | itself of the explosion is smaller for |
1452s | self-damage than it is for damage yeah |
1454s | so there's like a whole bunch of things |
1455s | that we're trying right now again we're |
1458s | not uh we're not uh we're not committing |
1461s | to doing that it's just something we're |
1462s | experimenting with right now and |
1464s | actually speaking of archon hunts the |
1466s | there is a world of Warframe that the |
1468s | longer you played the more powerful you |
1470s | get we all know this uh and a lot of our |
1472s | content you can kind of one shot and the |
1475s | archons are currently content that aside |
1477s | from a few bugs uh you they aren't meant |
1480s | to be one shot and that is because of |
1482s | one system we have which is damage |
1484s | attenuation which is our version of |
1487s | trying to make a fight last longer than |
1489s | a certain period of time and there's a |
1490s | lot of strong opinions on this |
1492s | um and generally speaking our I think |
1494s | the last time we talked about this would |
1495s | have been in a forum post and |
1497s | our view on this is we need to figure |
1500s | out a way that will make |
1503s | the content that you guys want to play |
1505s | and we want to make blast and feel fun |
1507s | and absent of new mechanics and all of |
1509s | these things it's hard to do because our |
1512s | damage is crazy and all of our weapons |
1514s | and combos go in really interesting ways |
1517s | where you can see your million billion |
1519s | overflow crits and bosses really can't |
1522s | survive that so we do have damage |
1524s | attenuation and generally speaking we |
1526s | are looking at making it better we don't |
1528s | exactly know how yet for the archons for |
1532s | a future update yeah basically |
1535s | the main uh kind of like the main path |
1538s | we took with this fights were to try and |
1541s | grab the fights that we had from the new |
1542s | war kind of scale them up to multiplayer |
1545s | and uh basically make them buffer so if |
1548s | you play the new world and you fought |
1549s | that third icon you know that it got |
1552s | absolutely wrecked once you got there |
1554s | with your Warframe so that was the main |
1556s | intent that we had here |
1558s | um |
1559s | we didn't really set out to make three |
1562s | fights with entirely new mechanics |
1563s | because we simply did not really have uh |
1566s | the time for such a for such an Endeavor |
1570s | um and we also by experience we know |
1572s | that some fights that we've done that |
1573s | are mechanic exclusive you know such as |
1576s | the orb things like that uh those also |
1579s | get a lot of people get annoyed because |
1581s | then your DPS kind of doesn't matter so |
1584s | uh yeah it's hard |
1587s | we are very aware that we have |
1591s | um |
1592s | that bosses are not a solved thing in |
1594s | Warframe that we still kind of are |
1596s | feeling our way around obviously I don't |
1598s | think they're like um |
1600s | you wouldn't say that they're like the |
1602s | strongest part of Warframe right I I |
1605s | think you know a lot of us have been |
1606s | working on and playing Warframe for so |
1608s | on maybe some of you are new to the game |
1610s | today that a lot of these conversations |
1611s | may or may not be something you're even |
1613s | at yet at a Content point and generally |
1615s | speaking I think we have a a very rich |
1617s | world of very interesting things but |
1619s | there's memes like the sergeant and and |
1621s | right because that's holding the spot of |
1624s | boss but we all know that then there's |
1625s | other bosses that are just you know like |
1627s | the Jackal rework players loved when we |
1629s | did the Jackal rework and we have to |
1630s | look at all these reasons what people |
1632s | love about them and fit them into to our |
1635s | content plans and revisions as we go and |
1637s | I would say with damage attenuation we |
1640s | know what it is that certain players |
1642s | don't like about it but we also know |
1644s | that at the end of the day there is |
1646s | an archon fight to be had for a lot of |
1649s | our players and if we take it off then |
1651s | and we want to balance it to those super |
1652s | high-end players no one below them will |
1655s | be able to kill the boss if you put |
1657s | billions and billions of Health |
1659s | and |
1660s | ultimately with these fights what we're |
1662s | going to do is we're going to continue |
1663s | to look at the damage attenuation we're |
1665s | going to see |
1667s | if there's a version of it I don't want |
1669s | to commit to anything that we're trying |
1670s | behind the scenes because it might not |
1672s | seem as though it'll be a success and |
1676s | that's why we just need to keep trying |
1677s | and I'd rather show you what we think we |
1679s | have that'll work to improve it and then |
1681s | we can probably do that in a future |
1682s | devstream but yeah what we can't really |
1684s | do at this moment is like because I've |
1686s | seen this mentioned several times make |
1689s | make uh the fights be three fights like |
1692s | the ropolol list or with like the Jackal |
1694s | yeah like those take a long long time to |
1697s | make and the reality is that just yeah |

1704s | that's the truth yeah so so far in this |
1706s | Dev stream we're uh gonna look we might |

1713s | a fun part for you to work towards this |

1751s | was kind of discovering things about the |
1753s | sound of steinx that I didn't realize |
1755s | existed until I like really listened to |
1757s | them I know we have a video but I'm |
1759s | going to look at Eric for any contacts |
1761s | before we play our little steinx video |

1765s | um when we kind of saw Stein ax and |
1767s | started thinking about the sounds for |
1769s | steinx there was just so much like |
1771s | potential in that Warframe just from the |
1773s | visuals of what we could do so Slater |
1776s | Groves is the sound designer who worked |
1778s | on it and you'll see the video of him |
1779s | kind of taking you through his process |
1781s | but one of the things that we discussed |
1783s | was giving him somewhat of a voice |
1786s | behind his helmet which is kind of |
1788s | something that a lot of players have |
1789s | commented on and enjoyed I think and |
1792s | another thing we wanted to sort of |
1793s | convey was the feeling of you know being |
1795s | part of a group of Warriors especially |
1798s | you know his fourth ability you can hear |
1799s | kind of the Warriors in the background |
1801s | all yelling and chanting so we really |
1804s | wanted to bring those two elements to |
1806s | that frame and I think Slater did a |
1808s | great job doing that and of course we |
1810s | added a few things like the armor |
1812s | clinking when you run to kind of give |
1814s | him a little bit more of a different |
1817s | feel than other warframes and I think |
1819s | adding little textures like that is |
1820s | something we might do a bit more in the |
1822s | future too for other words I literally |
1824s | thought it was crazy I'm like am I |
1825s | hearing |
1826s | yeah I kept going like back to normal |
1829s | warframes and I'm like running around |
1830s | I'm like is it is it there is it the |
1832s | same and I was like it's not crazy it's |
1834s | in there but it's subtle yeah no Lavos |

1837s | the bottles of the liquid jiggling and |
1839s | yeah so yeah we like doing things like |
1842s | that we do spend a lot of time working |
1843s | on the sound for those warframes |
1845s | um but yeah the video that we're going |

1849s | anyone's curiosity who kind of wants to |
1851s | see what goes into making one of these |
1855s | um so it takes you know it took a good |
1856s | amount of time but happy with how it |

1889s | too far into techno land so we added in |
1892s | things like vocalizations and also metal |
1894s | Foley when he's running and across all |
1896s | the abilities to just sort of ground him |
1899s | in an organic universe |
1901s | so let's take a look first at some of |
1904s | the vocalizations |

2005s | unique vocals is on steinx's third |
2008s | ability is uh rally ability so for this |
2012s | we wanted to create a sense of a call to |
2014s | arms because you get buffed so Eric and |
2017s | a few other sound designers went into |
2018s | the studio and recorded a bunch of group |
2020s | vocals and you'll hear them all together |
2023s | when steinax lowers his arms so it |

2032s | and just to show you quickly how that |

2174s | an initial cast sounds and that cast |
2176s | sound is what you get as soon as you |

3493s | pose to help with the 3D modelers uh so |

3499s | so because the crunched over uh posed |

3504s | the details and Joe madd's stuff is |

3518s | for number five we seem to agree on that |

3556s | the colors pop which is kind of what was |
3558s | lacking the previous iteration so yeah |

3566s | we always want to build a unique |
3568s | identity out with those base colors |

3570s | well it's usually the first thing people |
3572s | see so yeah totally until they go in |
3574s | with their pinks and their greens and |
3575s | their 6.5 |

4212s | cosmetic that I really wanted with Veil |
4214s | breaker that got pushed into one point |

4220s | archon shards you have installed so this |

4226s | customize your real Jack crew yes you |

4509s | happen next so generally speaking |
4511s | crossplay has been something that we |
4512s | really came out with last tenocon as |
4515s | hate we're working on it and also cross |
4517s | save works and mobile is a thing so that |
4519s | was a lot of here's everything we're |
4521s | gonna do and now it's time to start |
4522s | doing it in an order that makes sense |
4524s | for the technical risks and the work |
4526s | involved and really what yesterday was |
4528s | was the first turn on the switch on the |
4530s | live build and we did it for 30 minutes |
4532s | and we got enough information to push us |
4534s | to the next test which they're going to |
4536s | remain unannounced for now because we |
4538s | don't want to give people a date in case |
4540s | we have to move something so really what |
4542s | you can expect is these to be |
4544s | intermittently appearing between builds |
4546s | for us so that we can turn on after some |
4549s | testing see what we got bring it back |
4551s | and all of this is ramping up into the |
4554s | first unification which is cross play so |
4556s | when cross play is in a good spot then |
4559s | we will start the same process with |
4560s | cross save and then all of the other |
4562s | things that come with connecting and |
4564s | unifying all the community so yes it was |
4567s | very unannounced and now there's sort of |
4569s | one single source of truth about all |
4571s | this where you can go to the forums and |
4572s | you can read Dudley's post and see |

4578s | reasons why we pick two platforms to |
4579s | start with and no one I don't want |

4586s | come uh the process is going to be that |
4589s | uh and when we're ready for a bigger |
4592s | bigger Fuller many platform test we'll |

4633s | never know when the cross play is going |
4634s | to show up and that's how it's going to |
4636s | be until until we're yeah the |
4638s | unannounces also saw that a lot players |
4640s | don't log in that exactly a time yeah |

4647s | login everyone's trying to hit that yeah |

4972s | fights isn't the solution right now just |
4975s | turning them off all together and not |
4976s | having damage attenuation just isn't |

5090s | are more sentiment surveys now which I |
5092s | totally didn't take from playing all the |
5095s | fortnite I do that they randomly asked |
5096s | me questions but uh we wanted to add |
5100s | that into the game just to get a |
5101s | different way to see what players are |
5103s | thinking right after they play the game |
5104s | just so that we can push towards |
5107s | everything that we're working on with a |
5109s | little bit more of a little bit of data |
5111s | based on all these experiments we're |
5112s | running with these surveys to see what |
5114s | people are feeling the moment they stop |
5115s | playing Warframe so you may have seen |
5117s | those I just wanted to give a little bit |
5118s | of context to them and there will be |
5120s | more coming |
5121s | they're not going to be the like oh |
5123s | because all the surveys of this we're |
5125s | adding you know like PVP or this or that |
5127s | we're just working out a system where we |
5128s | can get a general Compass to you know if |
5132s | you value exploration or Park War and |
5135s | all of these things so generally you can |
5138s | look forward to those in the coming |
5139s | weeks on different platforms I'm pretty |
5140s | sure they're PC only right now and that |
5143s | doesn't mean we're only listening to PC |
5144s | players I just want to say that we're |
5145s | trying to launch these things to get a |
5147s | sense of how what would work for us as |
5149s | we ask you important questions |
5152s | um and then yeah we have a pretty busy |
5154s | rest of the year speaking of busy I'm |
5156s | seeing questions about plague star and |
5157s | we are not going to be running plague |
5159s | star this year like rev mentioned |
5160s | focusing on Echoes of failbreaker deviry |
5164s | all that great stuff and we didn't want |
5166s | to rerun plague star until we had some |
5168s | fixes in for it a couple changes and we |
5170s | have a list based off of community |
5173s | feedback and Bug reports so thank you to |
5175s | people who gave those to us but we are |
5177s | going to wait a little bit until we can |
5179s | Implement those things properly and then |
5182s | we will rerun plague star but that's not |
5183s | going to be this year Namaste we got |
5187s | limited things to work on yeah yeah yeah |
5191s | turning it on with the post new war |
5194s | world yeah there's a little bit buggy |
5196s | and we just we don't want to rerun an |
5198s | event knowing that it's going to cause |
5200s | issues for people so we're going to take |
5202s | the time it needs to fix it up a little |
5203s | bit and then we will rerun it so we'll |
