Steam deck issues

When I saw that Wayfinder was deck verified with the Echoes expansion I was super excited to get my hands on it but it seems it's not optimized at all for the system? I put all the settings to low and I'm consistently dipping below 20 fps. I'm used to the limitations of the deck so lower frame rate isn't an issue for me but I literally cannot pause the game, it has crashed deck twice. Both times it happened I was trying to access my inventory and the game slowed, the fps counter was between 0-1 for several minutes, the animations made minimal progress then my entire system shut down. Just wondering if there's something I should be doing differently? Thanks for any advice
