Obviously this is a known issue...still I am surprised by the extent of negativity in team chat. It’s one thing if a teammate isn’t playing correctly, but I have witnessed people digging into lower-skill players even when they are clearly trying. I myself have had off matches where people immediately start harping to report me or that I should delete the app. Either way, the toxicity is unhealthy.

I usually try to say something positive or team-building, but it’s not exactly a great forum for discussion when you’re trying to focus on winning. It’s gotten to the point where I have to balance really wanting to play and not wanting to expose myself to so much negativity.

Maybe I sound totally naive. But it’s such a major bummer.

I know a lot of people say to just turn off chat. Maybe that’s the only answer. Just curious what others think and/or what approaches you take to keep enjoying the game...

Its tough since different people deal with stress... differently. Muting is a good option, but if you're up for it (I say that cause sometimes I am and sometimes I'm DEF not) you can counter with wit / banter. There was once I just asked someone "why so mean friend?". But again, its not always I'm up for something like that, but I do believe if you put good into a community it will pay dividends long term :)
