These seem like way too essential items to not have in the game. Support is already an unpopular role and especially with the lack of popular support champs like thresh, supports need all the help they can get. As a support you're essentially forced to go red trinket due to the lack of control wards and unless your adc is really good at warding which is rare and also it's dangerous for the ADC to be face checking bushes to ward anyway. All the while supports essentially have to rely on passive gold gain only

I know this post is old now, but have you considered a ward item as a boot upgrade? Then you would have to choose between it and something like locket, so supports still have legitimate options outside of a ward item, but gives a little extra vision if that's what you're interested in.

It's highly unlikely we would create a warding boot enchant. Players really like how tactical the boot enchants are, and we don't like the idea of creating a highly strategic option that supports, or their team, feel supports MUST pick up.

How about increasing the amount of wards the totem gives after a set amount of time or after an objective has been completed? This would increase vision as the game progresses while remaining a whole team effort.

Let's start with what is the problem you are trying to solve with any change. We could increase wards as the game progresses, but what is motivating us to do so? Any change also comes with trade offs, and too much vision has its own problems.

If we felt vision in the late game was a problem, and something that needed to be increased then this could be a good option. However it's generally better for vision to decrease over time so that players don't have perfect situational awareness. An example of this is that losing a tower decreases vision.

This makes sure that plays still happen, and players can set up ambushes or take objectives.
