A new DevBlog dropped today which announced that:

Grey EcoBonuses will not be added to Supercontainers

1,500 Doubloons will be awarded as compensation if a Ship Group is rolled but the player has all the possible ships.

The first part has been heavily requested after the initial change announcement. The second was also brought up as an issue, though few players will have all the ships a Supercontainer could drop (so it's a fairly niche point).

We also released our reasoning for why the change is occurring:

In the reasoning section, "doubloon inflation" is mentioned and a lot of players are asking what that means? Doubloons are an artificial currency, so... inflation? Really?

Let's look at the Drop Rate for the Supercontainer in the DevBlog:

4% chance of 1,000 Doubloons. That translates to an expectation that 1 out of every 25 Supercontainers will give 1,000 Doubloons.

-

Anniversary Events are known for yielding a Supercontainer for each Tier X a player has (after they play them in a match and get 300 Base XP or a win).

For a player with 10 Tier X ships, that's an expected 400 Doubloons on average.

For a player with 25 Tier X ships, that's an expected 1,000 Doubloons.

For 1,000,000 players with 25 Tier X ships, that's an expected 1,000,000,000 Doubloons (Billion with a B)

As our game continues on, we continue to provide more Tech Tree Lines that go to Tier X, as well as Steel Ships, Coal Ships, Dockyard Ship, Research Bureau ships, and likely more I'm forgetting. Currently, we have:

82 Tier X Ships

though it's more than that with B versions also existing

16 Superships

How many players have 80+ Tier X ships? Not many in the grand scale, but the math shown above is done with just 25 ships which can happen faster than one might expect when diving into our game.

As the average ownership climbs with greater and greater availability, there is a new "baseline" expectation for how many Doubloons will result from the Anniversary event. And while yes, Doubloons are an artificial currency, as the general Doubloon floor rises from Free-to-Play methods, it means that premium content can require different valuation so that purchased content remains "purchased content" for the most part.

World of Warships has a lot of team members that are working on keeping the ship in ship shape. Any business does require revenue to be able to employ those that work on the game and we are no exception. Fortunately the game is able to be provided completely Free-to-Play for any and all who would like to join us on the high seas, but that requires us to be vigilant in how we are distributing our product. Especially our premium currency which is a lifeblood of any long-term service title.

This seems a strange comment to make. It looks like your requesting the removal of the above, which I don't know if you'll find anyone else to agree with you on.

One fundamental difference with what you've cited is that it's paced over the duration of an Update cycle, which is many weeks. The Anniversary Event is one Update out of the many the occur over a year.

We are a Free-to-Play game and do provide Premium Ships in events with some regularity. Events are limited time by nature and we do use our in-game content in a variety of ways to support them.

Doubloons are still in the new version of Supercontainer. There are still Free-to-Play methods to attain the currency, but the Anniversary Event provided a rather large availability in a short timeframe.
