Last week there was some community concern over on Reddit about the free rewards from the Battle Pass since it was replacing the Daily/Weekly/Monthly missions.

I looked into that and found the information wasn't matching our internal numbers, so we dove into it further internally and have created a thorough explainer DevBlog: https://blog.worldofwarships.com/blog/381

Thank you for your patience!

-

Some highlights on the differences are:

Coal and Steel

Currently, you would need to log in every day to get all the Coal and Steel

28 days of Dailies = 1120 Steel and 11,200 Coal

The Free Pass can get all the Steel and Coal with only 13 Dailies completed and 3 Weeklies

13 Sessions = 1,200 Steel and 12,000 Coal

Weekly Missions

Currently, you need 25,000 Base XP from Wins to complete the Hard-chain of Weekly Mission

Battle Pass Weekly is 27,000 Base XP, but the first 9,000 Base XP doesn't require a win (so it's easier to farm).

Post-Progression is a thing!

The prior calculations didn't take into account your ability to keep completing levels on the Free Track, this loses possible rewards.

If you complete all Dailies and Weeklies, you will receive more Signal Flags than current.

I'll be available for some time to answer questions if you have any~

We have hundreds of employees working on a variety of different projects at any given time. In this case, details got updated in one area but word didn't get passed quickly enough for the article being published. The article also had an out-of-date picture which was more used to show the idea as opposed to specifics.

PTS is more for testing than drilling down into specific rewards/mission conditions. This being a big topic, information needed to be more clear so we made a DevBlog specifically to address the community concern.

It's intended to be part of the game. There is a Free Pass (which is described in the DevBlog), a Paid Pass which gives bonus rewards that are quite a good value, and a Premium Paid Pass which gives additional benefits as well as a supplemental Mission for Battle Pass Points (which makes moving through the track/levels easier).

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

It adds up over the length of the Daily Chain.

The current format marked internally is:

The first four parts give 1 BPP each (4 total)

The last two parts give 2 BPP each (4 total)

You receive 2 BPP when the chain is completed (2 total)

= 10 BPP for the Daily Chain

This could be subject to change as the system is not yet Live, but it's unlikely it would need to be altered.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

Per the DevBlog:

"Levels will cost much less on the main server (for example, 625 doubloons in 0.11.10)."

It's similar to the Dockyard in this sense.

I remember when the +500 XP was able to make a challenge mission doable in Co-Op, so I'll have fond memories of that reward.

I do agree that having the reward track be able to be completed without logging in each day is a good change. Max'ing out on Post-Progression Rewards would require going hard on Dailies, though.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

It adds up over the length of the Weekly Chain.

The current format marked internally is:

Each part completed gives 10 BPP

There are 6 parts to the chain, so 60 BPP total.

You receive 20 BPP when the chain is completed (20 total)

= 80 BPP for the Weekly Chain

This could be subject to change as the system is not yet Live, but it's unlikely it would need to be altered.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

We considered adding that info into the DevBlog, but we elected not to make it overly large. This was just to address the Free Pass rewards.

(As these haven't been announced formally, please note everything is subject to change)

In general concept, there are two Doubloon options. For purposes of example (because the terminology can still be subject to change) I'll use "Paid Pass" and "Premium Paid Pass" below.

"Paid Pass" - 2,500 Doubloons

You get additional stuff when you reach a level (Free Pass rewards + Paid Pass rewards)

Some of the rewards are very good.

I believe 0.11.10 has a Tier 7 ship listed, which is a bargain alone at 2,500 Doubloons

There are Red Expendable Bonuses as well as lots of other stuff.

"Premium Paid Pass" - 6,250 Doubloons

The "Paid Pass" stuff is included in this (which everyone would expect).

There are additional Perks

I believe the picture on a recent article was accurate in showing the Perks:

There could be more? I'll leave heavy specifics for an article or announcement that reviews things in full. My response here is more aimed at being helpful than trying to write a second DevBlog <3

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

Activating the "Paid Pass" should deliver all those rewards from the unlocked Levels. If you were at Level 40 and upgraded to "Paid Pass", then you would collect the 40 levels of "Paid Pass" rewards.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

A few points to consider:

The 3m Credits is from 30 days of Dailies. The DevBlog covers a 28 cycle. The comparison would be 2.8m Credits from Current.

A player doesn't need to complete 28 Daily chains to receive the above FXP, CXP, and Credits.

A batch of 20 Signals has a cost of ~1.5-2m Credits when purchased from the Armory.

If treated like the old system and doing all 28 Daily chains, you receive:

19 additional "More Signals" containers than Current which give ~10.6 Signals per container.

19 x 10.6 = 201

There are 112 Signal Flags awarded via Dailies over 28 Days, so

201 - 112 = 89 additional Signals

89 additional Signals can translate to ~7.8m Credits in value

89 / 20 = 4.45 (converting to Armory purchase size)

4.45 x ~1.75 Credits Each = 7.8m Credits value

You should be able to view the entire Reward track as soon as an Update goes live. There shouldn't be any uncertainty with what you are purchasing if you elect to spend Doubloons.

There is no plan to make a last-minute purchase of the Battle Pass cost any different then an early purchase. Each track has its own cost stated up front.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

This table has two problems:

The Current amounts are considered on a 30 day period, not a 28 day period.

The Battle Pass amounts are pulled from the PTS, which was not final product representative.

This is why we released the DevBlog today to get information out.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

The "Premium Paid Pass" (my terminology and is subject to change) does offer an extra Weekly Mission for Battlepass Points. However, you can complete the main reward track (level 40) through completing 13 Dailies and 3 Weeklies (or some other combination thereof). While the additional mission can be helpful, it is by no means required at all.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

This is a list of everything you receive if you complete all the Daily and Weekly missions over 28 days.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

If there was a YouTube video, it was likely using PTS information which wasn't representative of the final product. Our planned reward track goes to level 40.

If you're asking about "What are the rewards after level 40, that is discussed in the "Post-Progression" area of the DevBlog:

-

For a full view of the Rewards offered from the Free Pass, there is a table you can expand:

This expands out to (spoilered it because it's long):

The direct XP gain will no longer be available.

From the DevBlog:

-

There is less Free XP and Commander XP provided via the Free Pass than Current. We hope that the addition of other rewards overtake that difference.

There is:

80 more Steel

800 more Coal

~89 more Signal Flags

1 more Port Slot

as well as Special Rewards

This is mentioned in the DevBlog here:

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

Every container that is available as a Daily Container option counts toward Supercontainers. "More Signals" containers fall into that category.

You can obtain up to 50 More Signals containers by completing all the Dailies and Weeklies in the 28 day period.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

I described the Daily and Weekly chains earlier, but I can repost the information:

-

Daily Chain.

-

Weekly Chain.

We haven't officially announced specifics on the Paid options yet so I'll avoid answering this right now to keep things clear.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

From: https://worldofwarships.com/en/content/contents-and-drop-rates-of-containers/

Each Supercontainer is awarded over ~66 "Daily Containers". The time the Supercontainer is received can vary, but they are awarded at 1 per ~66 "Daily Containers" (Try Your Luck containers are 3 times more effective for this counting process).

It doesn't matter if you receive a "Daily Container"-style container ("More Coal", "More Signals", "More Economic Bonuses", etc...) from doing dailies or from mission rewards (or Free Pass rewards). Each container received matters toward the collection of a Superctainer.

-

TLDR: The 50 More Signals containers from the Free Pass will count toward Supercontainer progress.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

You need to read the preceding sentence. Only "Daily Containers" types matter.

-

Let's try to keep this thread related to the Battle Pass DevBlog.

-

That being said:

If you collect 50 Containers from the Free Pass over 28 Days

and 3 x 28 = 84 containers from collecting the 3 available each day

you have a total of 134.

134 x 1.5 = 201 container points, which would me an expectation of 2 Supercontainers over the 28 days, yes. The Supercontainers would replace two of the "daily containers" that you receive on the Container Barge.

-

50 More Signal + 84 Try Your Luck would yield...

50 x 1.5 = 75

84 x 4.5 = 378

Total = 453

You would have an expectation of 4 Supercontainers in the 28 day period. The Supercontainers would replace four of the "daily containers" that you receive on the Container Barge.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

These are the types of "Daily Containers". If it is one of these, it counts toward Supercontainer progress.

-

We do not display your current progress on a Supercontainer. There are no plans that I know of to do this.

-

Receiving a container of the above types from any source:

Combat Mission

Free Pass

Community Token Redemption

Daily Container Redemption

Forum Contest Credit

etc...

Receipt of the container adds progress. You can elect to not open the containers you receive, but they still add progress.

When you have triggered your Supercontainer redemption, the next Daily Container redeemed on the Cargo ship will instead be replaced by a Supercontainer.

This is something we are aware of as some Updates do run longer or shorter than others and we are planning for that. I don't have any definite information to share, though.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

Battle Pass is a system where in-game engagement yields rewards. You play and get extra stuff for playing.

Premium Time is a system where each battle yields better returns on your play. Credits/XP are increased for every battle you play without any form of engagement metric; you just get more out of each game.

-

Both systems do lead to in-game rewards in their respective ways, but they are different systems that do different things.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

I gave you the real, actual issue. It's very likely that you were waiting for a response that was trying to spin it in a good light in some manner, but the reality was that we have different departments working on this stuff. Just because the Battle Pass had a representation on PTS did not mean that was the final form.

Coding and Development is slated months in advance. The PTS is primarily there to test the client and the newly added sections.

Does the Update's new Event work?

Does the Update's added Modes work?

Is there a new feature?

Does it work and not crash the game?

The actual itemization of the Battle Pass has little to do with making sure the animations work or that the Battle Pass Points are tallied correctly and cause progression to occur. All of this is mechanical stuff that needs to be checked and verified functional before it goes to a Live state. This is a primary purpose of the PTS server.

-

The Battle Pass rewards were still under construction even after the initial PTS Round 1 went live. I identified differences between what was slated internally when compared to what the Reddit post cited in the OP used, because of that I escalated the situation so we could have clear information released to avoid confusion. In the world of game design, there is constant iteration sometimes all the way up until something ships (and sometimes continuing even after a product has shipped if required).

The assumption that the Battle Pass needed to be finished prior to the release of the PTS is not correct, but there is value in only releasing finished/fully processed information when showing new systems or economic concepts to avoid concern. In this case, the information wasn't final, so concerns flared. Ideally that would be something the Community Team could have forecasted and avoided, but working in game design is to know the routine of iteration. In short, we didn't see the pain point (concern over unfinished information) before it arrived.

-

We did apologize in the DevBlog for the article section that said rewards would be the same. They are similar in value with the Battle Pass offering more value overall, but they aren't the same. The system still being in flux at the time could have been looking to repeat the prior formula when the article was written, but iteration moved forward and we have the system which has been formally announced in DevBlog 381.

My point about having hundreds of people is that things being in flux do create situations where people are on different pages at times. This is an operational reality. We do our best to avoid mistakes and release the best product possible.

about 2 years ago - Ahskance - Direct link

The DevBlog was a long-form description of the system we're employing. Some updates are longer than others which necessitates having more rewards over the length of a longer track.

There are 5 Weeklies + Dailies for the duration slated for the 50 stage Battle Pass that is in 0.11.10. The Rewards in 0.11.10 are increased respectively.
