All sorts of things are possible. There is a rare achievement where a player finishes the battle as the last ship on their team while the enemy has 4 or more ships ("Solo Warrior").

You can find the Replay of your match in your Replays folder if you'd like to share it. It sounds like it might have had an interesting finish.
