We are happy to see that so many players are eager to try it but you have to wait till the official announcement on portal & forum regarding the submarine tests.

The world constantly changing and so does our game since without change there is no progress. 3 years ago we didn't think that subs can fit in our game plus we were focused on core game features like maps, existing ships etc. etc. Now the situation is a bit different, I don't say that other parts of the game are ideal because you can never reach that but we think it's a proper time for such big expansion as a whole new class.

That would be strange to ask in a Subs topic... But let's wait for him to answer that haha

If we're talking only about WW2, simple search gives us:
Germany: G7e T4, T5, T10 and T11. Serious experiments on homing torpedoes began in 1936.

US: Marks 21, 22, 24, 27, 28
(some of the torps listed above aren't submarine launched).

Gameplay period, though, is not only WW2, and later everyone got hands on that technology.

At this stage of the development it's too early to talk about how much homing will exactly take place it may as well be some course corrections, but what certainly isn't likely is toprs turning around and chasing you across the map. And even after closed beta will begin everything will be subject to change, so let's be calm right now, and see for ourseleves.

This is a game. If it was made as realistic as possible no one would ever play it because it would be too boring and too long. FYI: Shortest naval battle lasted 6 hours. Do you really wish it be that long because of realism?

If we make subs with realistic speed and such... No one will play them :) Because that simply doesn't fit in the current gameplay with other ships.
Plus I still don't understand all this negative about something still being in the development and which may be changed numerous times. If you read the news carefully you could see that subs are gonna be in a special mode for pretty long and even then it may be changed before it will be released to random. And I'm not even saying about closed and public tests...

OK, I see your point. But still, as we see it right now, making subs more realistic won't fit into the current gameplay. However, subs may be changed numerous times before the actual release. Right now I think all these discussions are not going to lead us anywhere until after the subs will be available to the majority of the players and they can leave their feedback after seeing and playing it, not reading the agenda.

Didn't know you can be sweet haha

Currently, DD detect sub on a close distance, 4km I suppose (maybe wrong). Plus it can be detected if come close last seen position. So even if you don't use ping you can be detected.

That's what we waiting for haha

I believe that those players who spend their time to come on the forum and write something bad or good are the ones who truly love and care about the game so I don't mind them being sometimes too mean or whatever, I'm a player myself and totally understand it.

Regarding everything else you said, I clearly see your point and concerns, but as you said yourself - let's wait till test.

OK now, I at least get what exactly you mean :)
As we stated before, we are not going to put subs blindly in random games. We want to run a good portion of tests, including tests on a live server in a separated mode to gather good and constructive feedback from players who actually played it.
And we are definitely not going to change mechanics because some part of players "feels" those mechanics are bad/not interested etc. When we will receive proper feedback from those who played it - that's another story.

My bad, probably read with closed eyes since I was speaking exactly about this battle haha, thanks for pointing out.

I know, I'm a fan of DnD myself and used to play Arma a lot in which it usually takes at least several hours of play to finish one game. But I was speaking about the majority and those who are enjoying playing that long are the minority.

Which is already too long for a session game.
