The discussion has been contentious at points, but it looks like the folks participating are doing so in good faith for the most part.
I've removed some attacks. Keep it clean, folks.

I'm considering locking this thread because it's not going anywhere. It looks like all the relevant points have been made, and it's now just bickering.

To the OP, the largest issue brought up in the thread relates to engineering. The proposed restractable flight deck would need to have some life expectancy because the ship itself would carry planes that would ideally like to land at some point. While it might be considered as a single-use event and then require heading to port to refurbish the concept, that confronts a wealth of other obstacles in that it turns a battleship into a one-trick pony... which seems an odd idea for something as substantial an investment as a battleship, even if it's modded in an interesting way.
I'm an observer in this thread, but I don't see any forward movement until the OP either fires up an engineering program to push out schematics with tolerances being catered to or hires someone to do it for him. Barring something sigificant like that, this will just be people talking in circles. The talking is fine, but the bickering starts looking like it's baiting in moderation, so... please keep the discussion clean.
This topic has run its course.
Fun note: When a YouTube video of the Transformers opening/theme song was cited, I believe that's when it definitively jumped the shark.
