I split this post out to be its own thread. This is likely something other folks would like to chime in on, but doesn't need to be debated out in the Tree Explaining thread.

As for the Christmas Tree Event, it's really just supposed to be that you click "Participate" and then play the game.

Clicking the Ornaments to read a mission and then having to just remember if you've done it or not was annoying/confusing to players, so in-game missions were created to help people track if they'd done the basic condition or not.

There was a mission I remember fondly for about 2 .5 years ago. "The Battle of the Philipines", I think.

It was a weekend mission where you picked a side "US or IJN", and for the weekend you'd get points for winning battles or for achieving over a set amount of Base XP (750 for the US, and 1,250 for IJN). There was no in-game meter for tracking your "points", however, so I was doing mental math as I ground out games. I got around 140-150ish before I stopped, and sadly I got 4th place and my name wasn't announced on the followup article :(

A later version on the event used an in-game mission that tracked on-going data, so it was much nicer to see a visual read on your situation.

Long story short, feedback on what you're doing and that it's working correctly is important, and the Tree event was lacking on that. Adding Combat Missions is there to be helpful, but your frustration has been echoed by many folks, so we're definitely aware that future events need to be easier for a player to connect with/read the progress of it.

Combat Missions representing the Ornaments have already been added to the game. However, they aren't labeled "Ornament #1" or similar. They are just Combat Missions.

Unfortunately, this events is hard for players to track because it was initially intended as a "Go to the Web Portal, Click the Button, and return occasionally to see what newer missions are available."

It is confusing, but it's a very basic event that isn't supposed to cause significant amounts of effort outside of going for the "Competitive Prize", like trying to get the highest Base XP on a specific class within the time period allotted.
