I moved your post to its own thread. Quoting me in the other thread made no sense.

I'll have a look at the Replay now and see if there's anything I can offer in terms of feedback.

After taking a Flood from a single CV torpedo hit, you were hit by a Sonar ping at 17:58

You ended up getting pinged again which resulted in a Double Ping. I don't believe this actually increase accuracy on Battleships, though I might just be unaware of current "Homing Cutoff Ranges".

I'm not quite sure why you hard turned to Port so much that you are now sailing to Port on the screen. This is important because of how you force homing torpedoes to miss.

From the time of the screenshot above, the Homing Torpedoes were no longer homing. They were now so close to the "intercept point" of your battleship, that they had changed to go dumbfire.

I'll provide an explanation in Paint.

This is the concept of the Interaction Point and the where the Torps will stop homing at a distance from the intercept point.

Ideally, you lead the torpedoes on a line that you can cut inside of:

But since you held a steady course with steady angle, the torpedos had a line which bit into you.

and it hurt.

At this point you have no DCP because it was used from the early CV torp. Your engine is broken and more torps are inbound shortly after.

Either the Sub reloaded very quickly (which is possible for a Tier 6, or there's a second sub as fresh torps come in. This might be jukeable with full starboard rudder, but at only half speed it's unlikely to place the "intercept point" far enough away from your to allow a juke.

But... you were able to turn her in and take all the torps on the nose. This helped reduce the damage though saturation and worked well for you.

You have some rockets fired at you which do little, but your DCP comes up and you use it. But... then you turn to the left which will present your side to a likely reloaded Sub.

The sub was alone. We see the other sub on the other side of the map. And he is reloaded. One torp is spotted and the pings come in.

Running away from a Sub is quite scary in terms of Homing Mechanics. This put the Intercept Point AWAY from the sub... so the Homing actually lasts longer.

That when you go down.

The CV provided about 4k damage, but the rest was from the Submarine.

---

In general, you might have tried to juke the first torpedo group but then started to slow down as much as possible while staying askew from the Sub. If you could let your nearby Submarine move ahead of you, then you have not only a friendly ship that gives you advanced notice of incoming torps, but also an ally that can spot the sub with Hydrophone and allow you to Depth Charge it.

If the first wave of torps was juked and you held a rough position back, you may have been able to kill the sub while possibly taking only the 14k on the nose from the second set of torpedoes like you did in your replay.

4k from the CV and 14k from the sub isn't small, but it's a far cry from dead.

@AirCrewChiefI only just realized I forgot to tag you in my response. Please let me know if you found it useful at all.

If you focus on winning everything and being the best in the world, sure. If you're just playing to sail some boats and have fun, you're allowed to do that too. If your ship sinks, you DO have more of them in port.

Nobody wins every game and this game is punishing and complex. Don't be afraid to take it less seriously and allow yourself the ability to make mistakes. Or sometimes to make no mistakes and still lose, because doing that is human.

That is wonderful to hear! I'm glad it helped, man <3

I enjoy teaching about mechanics and such~

In terms of a 1v1? I'm not aware of any such compilation of information. Plus, there are so many different ships in the game that it's even hard to generalize to an answer, really.

1v1s happen, but outside of specifically 1v1 brawls there are almost always some form of effect from a teammate. Randoms being 12v12 makes for a much larger situation because of all the variables.

Mostly tied in to how much health a ship has. I'm unsure if armor scheme and torpedo protection is factored in.

The "Ratings" in port are very basic in order to give an idea to a player at a glance.

Yeah, that's really annoying. People need to let other folks play the game.

Clan Battles and Tournaments are a great place for being hyper-competitive, but some folks just want to be able to play the game. We have a lot of different stuff in our game that people can play around with.
