[2021] Welcome our new Community Manager, Ahskance

Greetings Commanders!

I’ve gone and taken the plunge, and I’m surfacing back up as one of your new North American Community Managers.

For those that haven’t heard of me, I started streaming World of Warships about a year and a half ago to provide Twitch with some English-speaking Aircraft Carrier play. It’s known as my niche, and I’ve made a lot of teaching videos regarding them. I’ve also streamed King of the Seas for the past 3 seasons (two of those with Boggzy!) and was invited to help with the Wounded Warrior Charity and King of the Seas 13 Finals Weekend streams that the WoWs NA team put on earlier this year (I even sang a little~).

When WarGaming announced they were increasing their North American team (we’re still hiring!), I ventured up the courage and put my name into the hat. I started a few days ago, so I’m still learning the ropes, but I aim to be in ship shape before too long!

So, I'm actually more of a gamer than a history buff, so I don't have any cool references to throw on this one. My best friend, however, can talk for Days on the subject as he inherited his love of WW2, Military, and Aviation from his Father who idolized the Tuskegee Airman. He's the one that got me into World of Warships after the CV Rework, and I haven't stopped playing since. That was 2.5 years ago.

As for what would I like to be added to the game? While I might lack a historical reference to throw around, I hope the old Odd-Tier CVs come back. MANY people have asked me about them, and I'm hoping that if/when they are reintroduced they'll have a unique style of play to learn.

Also, fun note! I've learned that WG is crazy interested about history, and has done things to advance historical causes that they haven't even talked about. It's just a part of the culture to care and invest in things that they feel are important, which I thought is really cool.

Austin is very nice, but the City's Thermostat seems to be faulty... It's hot half the day, cold a third of it, then hot again. My apartment's therostat can only be set to "Cool" or "Heat", so it's a lot of me switching the setting back and forth during the day :\

Sone_mg actually gave me the idea. He suggestd it, to which I immediately thought "There's no way I could do that." I have Asperger's Syndrome and believed that I wouldn't be able to achieve such a thing.

However, it got me to think about it, and really reflect on what I CAN do. And that I've been a vocal part of the community for over a year and half. And that I like helping people. And people tell me often that I've helped them.

So, that got the ball rolling, and then WG NA announced they were doubling the size of the Community Management team... so I put my hat in the ring. I was absolutely stressed after each interview (did I mess up?!), and totally excited when they kept contacting me for another interview.

I am super excited, and I'm hoping that I can be of help <3 Thank you for the "Good luck" <3

No clue! There's so many tools and programs and such to learn... This is my third day, so I've still got a long road before I'll be anywhere near up to speed.

You might try hitting up a Community Contributor, though. They are empowered with the ability to ask questions about game mechanics and such directly to the Devs. While it's extremely unlikely they'll give you exact numbers related to your specific request, they can probably find out if X or Y earnings-related-thing is working correctly and rewarding Base XP/Credits.

So far, it hasn't looked Dark~

I knew a lot about Game Design coming into this since I've studied it as a hobby for years, so everything I've experienced thus far seems sane and well-intentioned. Mostly, it's just a lot of folks working really hard.

As for enjoying my stay, I've done three 12 hour days. Not because I had to, but because I was genuinely interested in what I was learning and didn't feel interested in going home. Also, Boggzy, Maredraco, and Ev1n are great to hang out with.

The CC Program is always interested in new folks with new ideas and news ways of interacting with people. I'm glad you applied~ It's a program designed to help Content Creators, which in turn helps the community have a variety of people to hang out with.

I believe spots are limited so that WG can assist the folks in the program as best as possible, so don't be afraid to do your thing in the meantime and reapply a few months down the road if it doesn't happen right away. I think I applied 3 or 4 months before I got a response. I was fortunate in that my doing CV-stuff was a specific niche, and I had a fairly strong following/recognition from Hurricane clan-battle stuff in TNG and later KSC.

I do hope to continue streaming often. I realize I'll be BUSY, but I've come to find streaming to be like my version of being social. I was never the type to go to a club... what would I do? Read a book?

I find streaming is a like a calm way to invite friends over to hang out while you do something entertaining.

While I'm sure I can't give specific variable X from ship Y or whatever, I do hope that I can be helpful in terms of information.

Part of what I've enjoyed the most from my streaming WoWs was creating Lesson content and being able to teach game mechanics and concepts.
